Discussion: Colorado County To Arm Security Guards With Semiautomatic Rifles

Simply wrong. This country on guns has lost its frickin’ mind.

We shot our way into this mess, and we’re damn sure gonna shoot our way out of it.

Well now we know where the next mass shooting involving kids is probably gonna be. I don’t care what anyone says! Guns and children are a bad mix!

This will not end well. Kids and guns. WTF are they ‘thinking’???

OK, so they get armed, get trained, and carry the weapons to schools.

Then they lock them in their cars.

Either:

  1. The weapons will deter or stop a mass shooter because the security folks have them
    or
  2. The mass shooter will arrive at the school, shoot the security folks first because the weapons are in the car and then proceed with the plans

I don’t support guns in schools. But it’s just crazy to have a guns-in-schools plan which doesn’t have the guns in the schools.

The whole thing seems nuts. Besides, take Columbine. It was/is, like all high schools, large, How many gun-carrying security folks (with their guns in the cars) will it take to protect the whole school? With the guns in the cars?

What could possibly go wrong?

“We want to make sure they have the same tools as law enforcement,” Payne said.
More likely they want to make sure they have the same tools as the local lunatic fringe, child custody combatants, property tax combatants and any of the other illogical but very heavily armed militia.
Just south of Littleton, by the way.

“Douglas County, Colorado, will begin arming school security guards with semiautomatic rifles….”

Rightwing rag National Review crows of the district:

“An all-Republican school board has created the nation’s first suburban school-voucher program, introduced market-based pay, allowed its teachers’ union contract to expire…Reagan secretary of education William Bennett has opined that Douglas County is ‘trying to do all the good reforms at once’….”

Sorry kids, you now belong to “The Invisible Hand”.

And it’s heavily armed.

Since they haven’t completely destroyed public schools with lack of funding, charter schools, and with vilifying teachers…seems they’ve found another way.

Will the NRA permit these security guards with semiautomatic weapons to be subject to a full background check? Why do I think the NRA mafia will object to that … 2nd Amendment! … liburty!! … gunzzzzzzzzz!!

Edit because I can’t type worth a darn.

What’s the easiest way to get a gun in a Colorado school? Take the guard’s gun away from him.

Actually, the guns are going to be in the cars, where they can be readily accessed in case there is a mass shooting in the parking lot, that the security guard is present for.

Old advice–When you find yourself in a hole, stop shooting.

Clearly one can see how that will be amazingly helpful. Hopefully Barney Fife will remember where he put his keys when the time comes. And likely the first responders will arrive just to seen him pulling a rifle out of his car. Hopefully they’ll pay attention to his uniform before they shoot him. Oh, and the shooters likely won’t find and kill him first.

The amount of money it will now take to insure these rambo wannabes would likely pay for school lunches or textbooks for needy children. Thank god they have their priorities in place. It would make no sense to use that money to fund onsite police officers or anything if they are really that concerned…
