Collins Warns GOP That Mandate Repeal Will Hike Premiums, Slam Middle Class
GOP: That is the idea. People voted for us for a reason.
Senator Collins, you give the warning sounding as if you believe that the members of your caucus are concerned about their middle class constituents. They don’t.
But thanks for speaking out for your (and their) constituents.

Hmm. Well, Collins certainly sounds like an enthusiastic “yes”.
“I have new statistics,” Collins added, patting a thick black binder under her arm, “that show that for some middle-income people, it will cancel out their tax cut.
That is not true under GOP orthodoxy. As the notable humanitarians and economists Paul Ryan and John Cornyn made clear in their endless quest to repeal the ACA, those middle income people are not losing their tax cut they are simply choosing to buy something that is beyond their economic means. Freedom has its price.
I think Trump thinks everybody will blame the Dems if things go wrong. So, taking a part out that is required for the rest is cool for him.
It is really up to Collins and a few others to stand up to this and stop the mandate portion. They probably should stand up to the bill in general but that would be a bridge too far. Republican’s love tax cuts above all else.
She’s going to have a hard time supporting this as currently constituted, given the recent passage of Question 2 expanding Medicare in the state by popular vote (after several vetos by He Who Shall Not Be Named) and Collins stating that she basically intends to run again for the Senate by not running for governor in Maine. Killing the PPACA might be the one thing that gets her run out of office if she votes the wrong way on it.
Oh come on Sen. COLLINS… THIS is exactly what your party wants so cut the bullshit. Your party wants to kill O’care, Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security. And it’s one of many reasons why i will never vote republican.

She feels she has to say that, still.
That is the logical outcome but we’re talking the American electorate here that brought us trump.
It’s part of her long history. Collins and the other “moderate” Republicans have no trouble overcoming their concerns in order to vote party line. They have to reach the level of “serious reservations” before they can be considered a possible no vote.
I thought the sarcasm was obvious, but Poe’s Law is getting a hell of a workout this year.
