A little confused here, if these original budget bills passesed the Senate 100-0, thus veto-proof, why aren’t these law now? Why must we do it again?

I’m sure McConnell will get on the horn and pinky promise to give her a unicorn in the near future and she’ll fold.

Bills that haven’t been passed by both houses expire at the end of a congressional term. It has to be repassed by the Senate.

That’s the real story, it’s McConnell’s fear of losing base support for himself. Frustrating that he gets a pass here, and is not the main story.

And become the United States Senate again…instead of being Reichstag West

Can we now finally admit that the shutdown fight is between Trump and Bipartisan Congress, and not Trump versus Democrats like the media keeps pretending? Even now Collins acts like she’s just a passive bystander telling two people to stop fighting instead of one of the people in the fight.

“Why doesn’t anyone believe a word that crosses my lips anymore?”

No.

To over-ride a veto, you need two thirds of the Senate and two thirds of the House.

I think people don’t understand that Collins is sunk in Maine, but still has two more years on her term. I’m skeptical she’d have won if her term were up in 2018. The Mainers around me (ME-02, Bangor area) are done with her.

True. But this language already passed before in the Senate by unanimous consent. They should just do that and push it to Trump. See if he has the balls to actually veto it.

If he does, then can go back to twisting arms in the House.

Can’t rely just on the threat of a veto from a guy who changes his mind depending on how high he is.

This I agree with.
