Discussion: Colbert: The 'Fox And Friends' Have Ebola! (VIDEO)

Discussion for article #228385

Love it!!

It’s not only Fox News. Chris Matthews been fear mongering for several days. He’s been harping on the fact that two weeks ago, Obama said that someone infected with Ebola coming into the US was very unlikely. Matthews keeps repeating over and over “Obama said it was unlikely, and now it’s here!” Waaaaah we all gonna die!!!

Well, call me an Obamabot but strictly speaking the word “unlikely” means “less likely than something that is likely.” It doesn’t mean “will never happen I personally guarantee.” We’ve got one case, on which the full force of the medical profession and the entire pundit class is now being brought to bear. It’ll be fine.

Don’t call me a Colbertabot either but these clips are actually worth sitting through those godawful Bud Light ads.

I don’t know if it’s the lack of Federal broadcasting regulations or just good, old-fashioned corporate irresponsibility but the fear mongering by the garbage cable that masquerades as news is, perhaps, the US media’s most egregious assault on social responsibility and journalism…and, that’s saying something.
Unbelievable too that NBC took a free-lance photographer into the African Ebola zone…free-lance means NBC isn’t providing health insurance for the man they infected…perhaps they’ll cover costs until he’s dead or until the fuss dies down.

Bud Light! I am so there!
Say, when did Anheuser-Busch get spell check do you think?

Turn on the National News(Ha!), they’re working over time trying to put us in panic. I thought Nora Odonnell on CBS would have a stroke reporting it. She let me know it was all Obama’s fault also!!

Get Ad Block and you’ll never have to sit through a ad on the net again, it’s free!

Hope he doesn’t bump into the guy CBS sent!

Maybe they think it sets them apart from all the Lites out there? Branding, man! Anyway, I’ve seen it all, and I can handle it: Lite, Minit, Kwik, all that. The thing I could not deal with was Coors’ “Artic” Ice. To me that signified the downfall of civilization. And I’m talking about the calm acceptance of the spelling error, not just the taste of the beer.

I know but I’ve worked for newspapers and magazines most of my life, and those ads do pay for food and orthodontia and such for people. I just can’t take that smirking hipster dude.

The NBC cameraman has been working in the area for three years, so the network didn’t send him there, they hired someone who was already on the scene.

Most of the time I love Colbert. But to me ebola is not fodder for humor. And we should be careful about fear mongering.

I think it is morally wrong for a huge corporation like NBC to use the services of an ordinary person like the freelancer in a danger zone without offering that ordinary person the protections of a giant corporation (like healthcare) beyond the freelance cop out.

Faux and Fearful Friends have all the scary sounding stuff. They have Benghazi Breath, Gun Runs, Ebola Eczema, Obamaitis, Abortion Ache, Voter Suppression Chest Cough, Warpies, Blondebimboson’s, Old Fart Syndrome, Hater’s Hack, Liar’s Tongue, HMD or Humor Minus Disease, Daytime Diarrhea and Douche Disease DDDD, Foreigner Fear, Black Wack Attack, Yellow Fever, Red Shed, Brownacocus, Mono-Chromatic Mindset, Fence Love, Wall Wisher’s, Wobbly Goalpost Gut, Dumbdowners, Alzscary Disease, Cable Cancer, Television Tumor, Pretendalots, Mood Switch and Faux-Phobia.
Just to name a few.

It’s football season, but the cable and networks can still squeeze in the ebola political football. It is strictly a cash cow for the networks and political fodder for the GOP.
What has Doctor Senator Rand Paul said to scare people today? It would be a mistake to assume Paul has any idea what he is talking about, but Fox will bray it to the heavens.
The Nation Republicans depict as helpless has more than enough moxie to handle Ebola.

Just to clarify?
Pretendalots is a precursor to F^ckemoveritis.

They hired him on Tuesday, he got sick on Wednesday. NBC didn’t bring him into the danger zone, he was already there, working as a freelancer for other organizations (e.g. Vice).

I missed the part where NBC abandoned him - last I heard they were flying him back to the US for treatment.
