Discussion: Cohen Questioning Whether He Should Testify After Trump Attacks On His Family

Cohen is being coached in his response by someone. Whether he testifies or not, it’s another alleged incidence of obstruction on Trump’s part entered into the public record.

Cohen knows better than anyone that Trump’s rants are so much hot air.

Methinks he’s looking to get a reduction in his sentence. This is a ‘prepared’ statement.

I think they call it witness tampering. Something tRump has been doing repeatedly from the beginning.

I’d up the severity a bit, from witness tampering to witness intimidation. And if you’re intimidating witnesses you’re surely obstructing an investigation or trial.

Yes, that is EXACTLY what Trump is doing Mike…It’s called intimidating the witness. It is illegal and this is the POTUS doing it.

Cohen is concerned that the remarks will inspire an “unstable person to target him or his family,” in ABC’s words.

Welcome to the world Mr. Cohen.

I think he has a very valid point. donnie is the leader of the nut jobs with guns.

Yeah, Mike. Things like that can happen after you get caught working for The Mob.

Well, I mean, he’s a theoretically a lawyer and ought to be able to figure out how to say things that establish the mens rea for witness tampering and obstruction himself, but . . . nah, he’s being coached by someone.

“unstable person to target him or his family,”
Strange, you didn’t mind working for and being paid by and committing crimes for an “unstable person”, did you, Mikey?

Michael Cohen, former lawyer and fixer for President Donald Trump, hired an IT company to influence online polls in Trump’s favor before his presidential campaign, then stiffed the company out of most of the fee, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.

Cohen also asked Gauger to create the @WomenForCohen Twitter account, which was started in May 2016 and is run by a female friend of Gauger’s. The account tweeted praise for Cohen and is for “Women who love and support Michael Cohen

Personally, I don’t trust that Cohen has and is cooperating 100% with Mueller. If he really told all he knows, Trump should be in pretty deep doo doo.

Cohen’s point is legitimate. His family could be in danger from some Trump zealot. Cohen was fine with giving up Trump, but not his father-in-law, hence the three year sentence. At this point Cohen testifying would be a ‘profile in courage.’ I don’t know, but Cohen doesn’t seem to fit that appellation.

And there you have it. Undeniable proof of Trump’s witness-intimidation.

He did it in public, and it’s recorded.

800,000 Federal worker families are in jeopardy because of Trump. Thousands more families of Federal contractors are in jeopardy. Migrant families are in jeopardy because of Trump. Cohen isn’t alone in his plight.

Intimidating a witness to Congress, cannot be just hot-air.

Trump is learning that there are consequences for things you say, whether you mean them or not.

He was partaking in a friendly interview with a friend. He was not goaded into intimidating Cohen and his family. And he could have stated that he was just joking.

He didn’t.

You knew the job was dangerous when you took it, Mikey.

Ironically, Cohen was the one helping him do that in the past.

Poetic justice?
