More to come. Stay tuned.
“companies owned by Cohen and his family”
Once a member of Cohen’s family, wife/mother for example, is implicated in a crime related to the taxi business you can bet that Cohen will begin cooperating with the Feds.
So is he a straw purchaser for Friedman, or is it the other way around? Shell companies are so confusing.
And I thought one of the things that successful organized criminals learned was not to screw up the small stuff like taxes on visible income, because that’s how investigators get into your records. Unless this really isn’t small stuff – could Cohen be so leveraged and illiquid that he can’t come up with a few hundred grand to pay his taxes? I know that medallions have crashed in the past few years (or rather, returned to their pre-bubble valuations) but if he’s in a situation where he can’t just take the damn loss it’s all just a house of cards. Or maybe his debts aren’t that big, but they’re all to people who don’t believe in sharing losses.
Nicely put.
Everybody pile on Mikey! It’s canary time…
No delinquent, no delinquent, you are delinquent!
They’re all crooks but they COULD have flown under the radar except for their proximity to the Trump orbit. Sad. (and yes, this is snark)
“The Trump campaign has spent almost $228,000 to pay some of Michael Cohen’s legal fees . . . it is unclear exactly what legal work the payments funded”
“bringing his total debt to the state of New York up to $282,000”
A transposition error? Coincidental, given that DT has little knowledge of Cohen or his various businesses?
Trump has always been obviously sketchy, but I find myself wondering just what percentage of private business in this country would similarly fall apart under the first probing of real legal scrutiny.
That part is sad, because I bet it’s a boatload.
When my mom was a CPA, there were only a couple clients she fired, iirc.
Between these taxes he owes and the legal fees he’s running up and he’ going to be indicted within three months, he’s going to have flip and tell the prosecutors what he knows about the occupant, which, IMO, will be the end for him.
Slightly OT, but in New York, there has been a series of suicides by taxi drivers, the guys who have medallions like Cohen owns and owes on, because they can’t compete with Uber and Lyft and others and they were going broke. They might’ve paid a million for a medallion, now they’re worth about $175K
I will give Trump this grudging (if snarkily sarcastic) kudo: His rise into the international fishbowl could result in several felony convictions among the moneyed scum in and around NYC. DRAIN THE SEWERS!
When it rains it pours
Kind of Stormy donchaknow
Wonder if the Trump campaign will help him out with these as well! Cohen is screwed. Time to cut a deal.
Damn! Can’t a brother catch a break?! LOL!
I look at Michael Cohen’s face, and all I can say is: There is no there there.
This should be no problem …
just let the tRump campaign pay it ! ----
The stable genius Donald Trump and his world-class lawyer/fixer Michael Cohen probably would be shocked to learn that the United States has federal laws that say how political campaign money can be spent, because based on their actions it seems that they don’t know that such laws even exist.

If this is an example -and I am sure it is - of how incompetent Trump’s legal advisors have always been, then I really, really want to see those tax returns now, since his tax attorney probably advised him that he could claim “air” as a deduction and “Manhattan” as a dependent.
Guess Cohen should have used that $130,000 Stormy Daniels payment to pay down his taxes instead . . .
