Discussion: Cohen Lawyer Says Trump May Have Committed 'Impeachable Offense'

I find it very peculiar and strange why he narrowed in on this one particular lie regarding Michael Flynn when there are countless examples of t rumpp abusing his power on an hourly basis. I’m sure Davis identified a good example of an impeachable offense, but this example is one of only countless other impeachable offenses to choose from. T rumpp simply does not know how or when to limit himself in any way.

Of course he’s reliable. He’s reliably reactionary.

No, you are right. I was actually screaming. I don’t get it it’s treated as if it were a nothingburger.

The headline should have read: “Lanny Davis Says Trump May Have Committed ‘Impeachable Offense’”

I only made it as far as the first two words of the article, “Lanny Davis,” to realize I was not going to read any further.

Good point.

When Pelosi does say the word “impeachment” it’ll be when she knows she has enough votes in the House which would include a ton of Rs to pass a bill of impeachment. If she says it before that time, Rs will turn it into oppo ads. Democrats need support from its party members, not just piles of criticism. We failed Clinton by not showing up, now we criticize those are that there. That’s fucking sick.

They were discussing it on MSNBC yesterday and highly critical of the partisanship and Trump picking his own people. This jerk has no prosecutorial experience and worked for Alfa Bank.

But the worst part is, if Rosenstein is fired, he could step into his place.

Editing detail: Trump never asked Comey not to FIRE Flynn, he asked him not to investigate or prosecute him. Flynn had already been fired (by Trump, albeit reluctantly).

…but at least he is believable and made his statement with supportive facts, supplied by Trump himself. Rudy is a big windbag. Period!

The usual suspects Maddow and O’Donnell have been on it as well as NYT.

The 51-to-48 vote was along party lines, with only Senator Joe Manchin III, Democrat of West Virginia, joining Republicans to confirm Mr. Benczkowski.

Pretty sick that the republicans all voted to confirm him, even Richard Burr, knowing what he knows. Hoping that some of them are just giving Trump enough rope. It’s the optimist in me.

Manchin’s vote tell us what he’ll do on Kavanaugh, the future of the social safety net, the Democratic party, objectivity in judging PPee at SCOTUS be damned.

And @geofu54

I did get wind of a bit of coverage in the expected places, but then was chagrined to see nothing here and elsewhere. Sheesh….every single day is more worrisome than the last. I couldn’t sleep last night for thinking about all of it.

I think Avenatti gave a clear assessment of Lanny Davis on Ari Melber’s show: smart lawyer, but if Cohen wants to tell the truth all he has to do is tell the truth. What Davis is doing now is helping Cohen send smoke signals to Trump to get a reaction and get an invite back into the fold + a pardon.

Translation: “My client has information that shows the President committed an impeachable offense and is publicly offering to keep that information from the country if that president gives him a pardon.”

And this dude has adamantly refused to recuse himself from the Russia investigations, despite his obvious massive conflicts. THAT is how he is “qualified” for the job.

This may have some relevance, the FT, kind of equivalent to The WSJ, has had some pretty good reporting on Trump and his associates, (I have not had time to read the full article, saved it for the weekend).

https://www.rawstory.com/2018/07/bombshell-report-reveals-shady-russian-cash-flowed-trumps-toronto-hotel/

According to the Financial Times’ reporting, Shnaider in 2010 made a secret $100 million payment to a group of so-called “introducers” who were representing the Kremlin. The goal of the payment to these “introducers” was to pave the way for Shnaider’s group to sell off its stake in the Zaporizhstal steel mill in eastern Ukraine.

Shnaider eventually succeeded in selling off the steel mill with the help of Russian state bank Vnesheconombank (VEB) — and the Financial Times’ reporting raises questions about whether the deal would have gotten financing from VEB without the massive payment to the “introducers.”

Exactly. And they make zero attempt to hide it.
