Discussion: CNN: Trump Begins Preparing For Potential Mueller Interview

I think that’s correct and it’s a real complication. Since he announced, have you heard him describe anything at all in a detailed way that suggested he had normal recall, attention monitoring, concentration, ability to organize words and thoughts, or the rest of it? He can blather away, but I know from dealing with a geriatric parent that being able to converse like one always did has roughly zero relationship to cognitive decline. You can be talking like always and then turn a corner into some new or trickier subject and boom—you’re dealing with a whole different person. It’s like a checkerboard rather than one solid color.

I hope his preparations for the interview with Mueller are every bit as thorough as his preparations for the debates with Hillary Clinton.

The preparation is taking place in a series 45 second sessions so as to fit within the president’s attention span. ETA: They are trying to work him up to a minute.

He’s always been a gloss-over incurious idiot, but he was once able to sound like a healthy adult. If you go and read an interview from even a decade ago, he sounds like a different person. Because in a very real way, he was.

Not a very stable genius. Bad (or sick) brain. Inpeach!

Absolutely. He was a narcissistic lout always, but when he was 35 or 40 he could form complex sentences—nothing special, but normal-sounding. Now his brain sounds like a rat lost in a maze, poking its nose confusedly down every corridor. Professional analysts have done comparisons and said they can’t identify what the cause is, but something is definitely going on.

How does a madman like Trump, with no grasp on reality or the truth, possibly prepare for an interview with highly trained, extremely intelligent Federal prosecutors who already know the facts?

Lamb to the slaughter.

I think that’s all they have left. After pleading the 5th, Trump will need to buy/influence a judge, but he’s probably done that before and assumes he can do it again. He will also hope to keep about 20% of the population as his base despite the scandal, and then magically turn that into a majority in 2020. I believe Trump thinks like that, don’t you?

Why not? Trump likes ratings. He should do the interview over several episodes and on the grand finale, he surprises everyone and fires Mueller? Can you imagine? That would be truly revolutionary stuff! All politicians would want their own show.

Maybe Trump has agreed to be interviewed by Mueller, but only if Mueller is replaced by Sean Hannity.

Just announce that the part of Bob Mueller will be played by Sean Hannity.

There.

No target, no target! You’re the target!

This appears to me to be part of a PR bait and switch campaign. My bet; they’ll have to subpoena him if they want to talk to him.

Of course he will. I think that’s a very safe prediction.

I see him stopping midsentence, glaring at his lawyers, shouting 'you told me this was taken care of ! ’ and storming out of the room.

… “And all the best words.”

If he does any actual prep at all, I wonder if they will include practicing circling behind Mueller and making faces like an angry, hungry buzzard any time Mueller is talking. Or snorting loudly. Or starting an argument in public and on record.
