If there’s anybody I have any sympathy for in this maladministration, it’s Hicks. Just trying to do a relatively entry-level job selling crappy Ivanka merch until you blink twice and get wrapped up in what appears might be the biggest intel op of all time.
She’s certainly something of an enigma, but it’s not hard to imagine she was too inexperienced to see what was happening, “don’t be absurd, of course the GOP presidential candidate is not a de facto Russian agent!” (I remember thinking this!), until whoops you’re totally wrapped up working for the President of the United States, who is a de facto Russian agent.
In this case @hoagie was quoting Trump, who, using the quoted phrase, gave Hicks a “compliment.”
Not that she needs to be too fearful of Nunes’ Committee, but for Mueller she should have been awed. I hope Ms. Hope thought things through - she’s mighty young to go to prison for perjury in service of her very first employer.

Horseshit. Hicks is not some innocent in all of this. By all accounts, she wielded the backstabbing knife with the best of them to climb up the ladder of the Trump campaign. She wanted to be a power behind the throne, and by all accounts she achieved that, even if it included shacking up with the likes of Lewandowski to solidify her position.
That’s fine. That’s 30% of the country. Believing in Donald Trump is not criminal conduct - indeed, it’s more pitiable than anything.
