“Federal prosecutors are considering bringing charges against former Obama White House counsel Greg Craig…”

“See – both sides! BOTH SIDES!!!”

Wait for it…

OR,

Before serving as Obama’s White House counsel, Craig led the legal team defending former President Bill Clinton from impeachment.

The deferred prosecution agreement stipulates deferral based on Craig serving as Trump’s White House Counsel…

Yup. It was all Obama and Crooked Hillary.

What deferred prosecution are you writing about?

If they hoover up a few “power brokers” who are associated with the Democratic Party, like this guy or Tony Podesta, them’s tough bananas. However, these appear to be side issues and not part of the main event involving Trump Manafort and Russia (Putin). In both cases, these guys both wanted in on the PR gravy train for Victor Yanukovych and were dumb enough to get invoved with Manafort.

Serves 'em right.

I agree, as long as Craig’s situation is explained clearly. I’ve already seen headlines (and not on right-wing sites) stating that this activity would have occurred while Craig was “Obama’s lawyer.”

Craig came to public notice only as Bill Clinton’s lawyer. as I recall. I had no knowledge of him serving in the Obama WH.

The connection to Obama (He was never Obama’s attorney but served for about a year in the White House Counsel’s office before being fired) is being blasted all over - I assume to try and deflect from today’s outcome in the Manafort case.

The right can try to brand Democrats with this but will fail because, unlike them, we are willing to admit one of our own is wrong if they commit a crime. If we don’t fight back they are left with an empty balloon. Sure it will rile up the dimwitted Republican base. So what? They are easily riled and are such a shrinking minority as to be of little concern at this point. Keep our eyes on the prize and vote.

During the Elian Gonzalez affair I recall him working on behalf of the White House, not as Clinton’s personal lawyer. I remember Donato Dalrymple, the “Cuban fisherman” complaining that Greg Craig would not let Elian Gonzalez’s Uncle Lazaro keep the child.

The prosecutors would have preempted that chestnut by their actions if that should come to pass. I don’t believe in the “he’s our slime bucket” defense. Doubt you do, either.

An odd, rather meaningless bit of side action and I’m sure we can expect the usual both-sides slather and chatter about it too but it’s all just pissing upwind into the hurricane of Trumpian reich-wing collapse; may they inhale and strangle on their own fetid blowback!

tl/dr: who cares [shrug]

He was not fired from the Obama White House. He resigned. He’s one of the good guys who was an early supporter of Obama’s and wrote a very gutsy op-ed in the NYTimes supporting Obama over Clinton.

I’m just trying to figure out where Mueller found 12 angry Republicans! /s

I’ll wager by Monday the White House will have copped to getting accidentally caught up in Obama’s collusion.

No, I don’t either.

You’re right, of course: A slime bucket is still a slime bucket, whether an “R” or a “D” follows their name.

Yet, sadly, we all know that every GOP politician in America will use this as cover.

Fox will chyron “Bipartisan Russian Scandal” till Doomsday.

And every member of our Pee-Wee Soccer League press will breathlessly trail behind in one, giant scrum.

(TPM excluded, of course.)

Sigh

On the Republican side you had Kavanagh part of the legal team representing the Miami relatives who wanted to keep the lad.

I did not remember that. Boy, Kavanaugh has been an ideologue GOP radical for decades. The fucking nerve the GOP has to appoint this clone of Alito and Gorsuch who is even more politically committed than either. I hope when the Democrats recover the legislative and executive branch they learn to shove their nominees, all in their early 50s at eldest, down the fucking throat of the Dixiecrat GOP.
