Discussion: CNN: Donald Trump Broke The Rules Of Fox News' GOP Debate

By process of elimination (no pun intended) I have determined that the rules were:
–no public urination
–no spitting
–no kicking above the belt

Coulda, woulda, shoulda.

I don’t disagree, but this is well past even Tuesday evening quarterbacking.

Hey Plucky, Thanks for the post. I was hoping you would show up and give us an on the ground report from the Bluegrass.

Network representatives then told the campaigns for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Ohio Gov. John Kasich that they could consult with their candidates because Trump had broken the rules.

So one buffoon breaks the rules and the reprimand is … all of the other buffoons get to break the rules. Oh, that’s right – these are special people, the GOP. God’s “chosen?” Yes, he chose them to illustrate what to do, GOP Americans: Cheat–flagrantly, evidently–and get away with it. Again, it’s for GOP Americans. If you vote GOP, you are “special” and get to cheat. Try it. Especially come April 15th. Go ahead. Donald Trump says he’s got your back, remember.

I wonder if Trump will consent to appear at debates in the future.

While it wasn’t immediately clear what Trump and Lewandowski spoke about, the billionaire did produce a report from the Better Business Bureau, which showed the rating for Trump University upgraded to an “A” grade, to hand over to the Fox News moderators during a commercial break.

Look into this, TPM.

It is true that there has been a grade change to “A”. There also has been a name change – it is no longer listed as Trump University. I believe that it also says that there is 1 complaint with 1 resolution. Just 1 – so a lot has disappeared.

It would be interesting to learn what the process behind the grade change was. Do old complaints get dropped, even if there is no resolution? Did “resolution” involve only the BBB and Trump U, with the complaining student left out of the matter? Did Trump buy resolutions – paid the complainers money if they withdrew the complaint and signed a non-disclosure agreement? BBB wouldn’t have any info on that, of course, but they would no if old complaints were suddenly all withdrawn.

There is a story there. Go get it.

This isn’t surprising at all, really. This is the only way a person like Trump can get ahead, succeed in a world where there are rules-- two sets of rules. One set for the oligarchs and one set for the rest of us.

That’s okay. I play Tuesday evening linebacker, so I can sack the Tuesday evening quarterbacks.

Well, if it were me sponsoring the debate, I’d make it clear the rules, and if broken, that candidate forfeits their time onstage from that moment on.

edited to add: Trump sure isn’t following in GWBush’s footsteps. Remember that time photographs caught the shape of a rectangular box (evidently) taped to his back, under his jacket?

I think Fox broke the rules in terms of their pre planned, single-minded approach to bringing Trump down without regard to fairness. That being said, we’re talking Republicans where rule breaking is not only expected, it’s encouraged and respected. If you ain’t cheating, you ain’t trying.

What on earth made Faux think Donald Trump would follow any rules!!

You’re right. If bringing down Trump has been their game of late, they missed a golden opportunity here. If.

They use the internationally accepted rules for cock fighting.

I would even break out the cuss words – but nothing the FCC wouldn’t allow on-air, mind you. After all, FOX Entertainment has a reputation to keep up … right? Entertaining and raking in the dough. The FCC would only want part of that night’s ‘take,’ and Rupert wouldn’t want any of that going on.

@PluckyInKY, the only saving graces for Kentucky in my are: you live there and my favorite country artist was born in the eastern hills, near Paintsville. I was born and raised in Virginia, and I know firsthand any frustrations and possible embarrassment with your state’s general politics. Virginia isn’t out of the woods totally, but we’re slowly walking in the right direction.

Growing up in Virginia, near the West Virginia border, I’d hear the occasional cousin or sister joke. The funniest ones used to include something about determining a family’s wealth with just how many vehicles were up on cinderblocks or if there was a satellite dish in the tar up on the roof. I wasn’t anywhere near the Kentucky border, so never did hear any of them.

They did that so that loony Rand Paul could run for president AND run for reelection to the U.S. Senate. I wish Steve Beshear had filed for the Dem primary. Rand Paul would likely have been beaten in November. There was a good precedent when Governor Ford ran against an incumbent Republican in 1974 and defeated him.

What’s wrong with you people? Rules are you the little people NOT for incredibly wealthy liked Trump. He buys and sells the rule-makers.

The world according to Trump:
“Rules? I don’t need to follow no stinkin’ rules!”

Allowing the other campaigns to consult with their candidates offers conclusive proof that Fox news is

Technically, that is a rule. Just saying.

The contradictions of their system is why Bartertown could not last.
