Well the celebration started too soon? In the bag? Trump keeps his mouth shut and he wins.

We’re in a period of political doldrums right now in which most people really aren’t paying attention to either of the candidates. At such times most people will automatically either support their party’s candidate or say they don’t know. That’s why polls coming out now reflect only political indifference and aren’t very predictive.

I guess everyone on Wyoming answered their phones and everyone in New York was out for dinner.

Why I check polls at FiveThirtyEight. The site does not focus on daily single polls but rather posts periodically using aggregates of polls

Monmouth Poll had Hillary +8 yesterday, big deal. Trump is a buffoon, he’s done.

People with knowledge of pollling understand that one poll may or may not be meaningful. The top news sources for interpreting polls use the average of all the polls during a given time period. The best source for these polling averages is www.realclearpolitics.com.

No, this is one poll of dozens reported during the last week. Real Clear Politics shows Hillary with a five-point lead average. She has held this lead quite steady for a month.

It’s like a roller coaster. One where the peaks and valleys are about a foot apart. It really is just random noise.

Oh come on folks even TPM has Clinton’s lead at 3 points certainly within the margin of error. Now josh can argue about this online poll or that phone poll and which one is best, but then why include those that he deems not so good? Because he is not certain?

Surely we have been seeing the race becoming closer

With Clinton’s negatives at 59% nothing is certain.

Gore won more votes than Bush. He lost the election. Not saying this is good news, but Hillary is still beating him in electoral votes. It’s how it works.

Are the email and Clinton Foundation stories hurting her?
My guess is that voters take those criticisms relatively more seriously than all the awful stuff about Trump, because negative Clinton stories reinforce the “truth” people already know.

Trump has been pivoting to pick up Republican votes. His Mexico move looks bold. I think It’s always dangerous to underestimate your opponent. What he is doing appears to be working.

Don’t break out the champaign just yet.

Hillary is a flawed candidate and all the negative publicity is taking a tole. She better start countering

I have no doubt the email and Clinton Foundation stories are hurting her. The AP comes out with a horribly premised article and all the faulty impressions are reinforced.

The media want a press conference. I was watching CNN today and there was a guy on it (I wish I could remember his name. It was someone I am familiar with.) He said early in Bill’s presidency advisors convinced Hillary to have a press conference to answer any questions. So she did. It lasted 70 minutes. And what happened? The stories just kept coming up anyway. That certainly explains why she is leery of having a press conference. I think it was somebody else in the same segment said, “How many times is she expected to answer ‘Why don’t people like you?’”

She hasn’t held a press conference! What is she hiding? Oh, no!

So every other candidate has been flawless? No, the term “flawed” has been stuck to her and there is no way she can rid herself of it.

It’s time the rest of the Democratic Party get off its ass and start going after Trump loudly, consistently, and with a cohesive message.
