One of the our future president’s strengths is one-on-one discussions and relationship building. I hope and trust that they’ll be able to figure out a route in which Sanders will help to include his populist supporters in her growing coalition.
Just please hold the line on open primaries, I do not want Republicans and Independents voting for the leader of my party. And Independents, it’s not like there’s a lot of similarities anymore between the GOP and the Dems, get off the fence and pick a side if it means that much to you.
Clinton won the Washington, D.C. primary on Tuesday night after clinging (sic) the Democratic nomination last week.
Pretty sure you meant clinching, not clinging.
The candidate with the most competent and the most progressive record won. There is no issue other than a minimum wage, where Hillary allows some states with lesser economies a way to have a lower wage, where Sanders is more progressive. Since there are no “real differences” in their stands other than gun control, what is Sanders doing? Seems like an ego trip.
So are we only going to “reform” practices that did not favor Sanders? This primary cycle illuminated for me the travesty of the caucus.
I voted for Hillary because of her populist record and her progressive proposals so maybe his followers ought to take a look at Hillary’s record and proposals. After Orlando, how can they still support Sanders?
Wonder what was said? If only, only, only Sec Clinton would release a transcript of the conversation.
Sarcasm! I couldn’t resist.
Speaking as an “Independent” who has never, ever, voted for a Republican in the 45 years I’ve been voting, I have to say I agree with you.
If you want to determine the future of the Democratic party (or the Republican party for that matter) you should join that party.
I do vote in the open primaries here in MO, but I’m always surprised they let me.
And in the very next sentence…
Sanders has said that he will state in the race until the party’s July convention…
C’mon guys, is this really so hard?
Sanders is only hurting himself by dragging this out. He’s already yesterday’s news.
How many of the people posting here receive funds from the $1,000,000 that Hillary’s campaign openly committed to hiring people to troll the nets?
Funny sentence: “Clinton won the Washington, D.C. primary on Tuesday night after clinging the Democratic nomination last week.” A “clinging” woman? Freudian. Obviously “clinching” was meant. Wonder how many readers even notice that.
Zilch. That’s how many get paid here. And you seem to be the only one concerned about a misspelled word. But then you’ve probably never misspelled a word in your life.
If this is a photo from after the meeting, I just noticed that Bernie looks older and Hillary younger than usual.
In politics, leverage is ephemeral and dissipates quickly, sands in an hourglass. Senator Sanders had considerable leverage three weeks ago. Now, it is almost gone as his most ardent organizational supporters unite behind the Secretary.
His tide rose and now is ebbing. This is a good thing all around.
Bernie is old news. He needs to concede the race and endorse HRC. His leverage is pretty much gone and he needs to stop this nonsense.
None. This is a reality-based site so no one has to come correct the record here.
I always swore I’d never belong to a political party. Put that on my urn, I’d joke. The right-wing GOP made me refuse to vote for them, but then Louisiana changed to closed primaries. So I changed my registration to Democratic.
I will not vote for a republican, ever. Have only done so twice in my life, one a local candidate I personally knew; and the first was John Anderson, because young and ignorant. Under no circumstances will it happen again. I do not foresee that party correcting itself in my lifetime.
Alex Seitz-Wald:
Sanders and Clinton statements on meeting tonight are nearly identical. Not an accident.
I’m sure it wasn’t an accident. They were both at the same meeting, so the fact that their statements agree can only mean one thing - they were both telling the truth.
My god, politicians who tell the truth! They must be stopped, it’s just too damn suspicious.
Technically this isn’t quite right, they could agree on the same lie, but I hope you are right.
