Discussion: Clinton: 'It's Hard' To Quit A Race To The White House

Sadly, as long as billionaires keep funding the GOP jerks, itā€™s harder than ever to give up. Most had no business running to begin with.

Sanders to the presidency: ā€œI canā€™t quit you.ā€ Another memorable moment from Bernback Mountain.

Hillary said all the right things and threw the ball into Sanders court. Will he do the right things or is he the new Nader?

Surely, he wonā€™t go there and heā€™ll keep his word regarding Hillary being infinitely more qualified than any Republican candidate in the race and about the necessity of having a Democrat in the White House.

It may be hard to quit but ā€˜The Mathā€™ will be helpful to ā€˜The Bernā€™ in figuring that out.

He wonā€™t be quitting before CA. But its pretty clear they realize he canā€™t win the nomination, and lobbying super delegates is a foolā€™s errand for him. So they will spend the remaining time trying to force their agenda onto the party platform.

Look forward to more calls attacking the DNC and the establishment for being unfair because they arenā€™t letting the loser determine everything.

ā€œItā€™s hard, Jake. I mean you throw yourself in to these campaigns body and soul. You work 24/7,ā€ she said. " Your family, your supporters, everybody is so invested in trying to win, and Iā€™m very proud of my campaign, grateful that I have such strong support but I absolutely understand that Senator Sanders has been a passionate advocate for positions that he cares deeply about. I think thatā€™s been helpful to the democratic primary process."

Well put.

I hope this conciliatory comment and the Sanders decision to drop the lawsuit signal a ratcheting-down of the hostility between the two camps. Iā€™m not so naive as to think that Sanders and Clinton will ever be best buddies, but at this point ongoing warfare benefits nobody but the Republicans.

I donā€™t expect Sanders to campaign at all for Clinton, but if all he does is tell his followers that they should vote for Clinton in November, thatā€™s enough for me.

Ainā€™t that the truth. I truly wonder if Sanders and his people realize what they are asking for or are they that deluded?

He wonā€™t be just a typical loser of a campaign either, he is an outsider/a guest of the Democrat Party and as such, he should be more respectful and grateful.

Personally, other than money, I donā€™t see the point in staying in until California. Does he really, really want to see how much he is being buried and how overwhelmingly more popular Hillary is?
Itā€™s a stone cold fact now, I guess Bernie needs a stone cold fact cast in cement.

Unlike Nader, Sanders has to go back to being a Senator after all this is over. If he wants any chance of passing any legislation of interest to him, heā€™ll need the support of his Democratic colleagues. Thatā€™s the primary reason he wonā€™t/canā€™t go full Nader.

On the other hand, his campaign will raise his statue as a Senator.

Sanders hasnā€™t passed any legislation of interest to him in 25 years in Congress. Why would he suddenly become interested in doing so now?

Bernie is quite content with putting up unrealistic bills and then scolding everyone else for not supporting them. Its been his style his entire tenure in Congress.

I wasnā€™t aware that they were building new post offices in Vermont ; )

Unless Bernie gets real and tries to work with the ACA or with Elizabeth Warren re: Wall Street, then he isnā€™t going to pass much more than a gall stone.

The ā€˜Nader Incidentā€™ is THE Albatross of the Democratic Party and while I think that Bernie is a bit grumpy and too selfish, I donā€™t believe that he is mean enough to jack our whole Party and himself for eternity just to get even or whatever.

Where is Ralph Nader BTW, he perished after he Nadered the nation. See!

Just the opposite really. His scorched earth policy campaign has hurt him with his fellow Senators. I see Sanders slinking back to work without a friend (not that he had any to begin with) with no chance of sitting on committees let alone being committee chair. Sanders has burned down all bridges in his Quixotic quest for the Presidency. Luckily for him he is old enough to quit and go home to lick his wounds. Once this is over he wonā€™t be heard from again.

Somewhere on a left of center site, this story has already accumulated hundreds of comments by Berniebots enraged to the point of hysterical blindness by these remarks.

I think his votes and stands on issues will be noted where before he was merely in the background. Time will tell.

Love the typo. A real Freudian slip.

It would be good if heā€™d at least say a few nice words about her, but Iā€™m not counting on that.

But what I am really, really looking forward to is that, once Sanders gets out, Obama, Biden, and Warren will be free to campaign like crazy.

Great catch ā€¦ I completely missed it!

Unless he acts the assholish bitter old man, ala McGrumpyPants, he will be forgotten by December.

I voted for the man. Obama was my choice in 2008. Bernie stays in even up to the convention, if he does it classy like Hillary did, he does himself good and his movement. Make your legacy count for something, build on it.
