Discussion for article #245424
I think those partial delegate equivalents should be translated into body parts. The outstanding precinct is worth two people and a torso.
Iâm thinking at least one big toe.
Oh, donât let Fiorina get wind of that or sheâll be blaming Planned Parenthood.
Iâve heard reported that the Sanders candidacy inspired many to turn out who have been hitherto disillusioned and disenchanted with the rigged system weâve got, register on the spot, and make their preference known. An individual on the ground in Iowa claimed that precincts with only 20 voter registration forms were caught woefully under-prepared, and the lines to get in went around the block.
If thatâs true, which I have no reason to doubt, it demonstrates that all the claims that we must restrict ourselves to squabbling with the Republicans over the fraction of the the electorate who traditionally show up â the classic excuse for the Democrats to tow the corporate line and call it âpragmatismâ â is just plain wrong. People can be inspired by a visionary whose vision isnât clouded with dirty money.
I think people forget (know that I did) that Jon Edwards staying in the race last time, racking up sizable vote counts, harmed Clinton in several states during the first part of the 2008 primary race.
The key difference this time is we have a 2-person race. I think thatâs why the consensus is sheâll likely maintain and pull ahead in the nomination as primary season proceeds. Please note that I said âlikely,â not âdefinitely.â
I will wholeheartedly support whoever wins the Democratic nomination. I donât believe Clinton is Satan anymore than I believe Sanders to be the Angel Gabriel. In fact, I find both of them a breath of fresh air compared to the filth being peddled by the other side.
ProfessorPoopypants stated on another thread that, regardless of whether the Nominee isâHillary or Bernieâthere should be a commitment to vote Democratic in 2016. He put forth a design on his post which has been repeated on others.
I fear that those whose candidate does not get the Nomination will âsit this one outâ. That is a very real possibility. Sandersâ supporters are young. Hillaryâs supporters are older, but older people (with the TeaParty and the Resurgence of Racism in the public arena) are not impressing me very much right now.
I donât know how to put on a bumper sticker the following slogan:
âSit This One Out and Prepare For A Jim Crow SCOTUS, A Dumbed Down Electorate And A Doomed Planetâ
STOP. THIS. FALSE. ANALYSYS.
NOBODY WINS IOWA.
The Iowa Democratic Caucus is not a winner-take-all race. Sanders wins some of Iowa, Clinton wins some. You cannot âwin Iowa.â Even if Clinton had won a large majority of delegates, she still would not have âwon Iowa.â That is not how our state caucus works.
And no, Iowa is NOT a âhistorically closeâ caucus. Obviously the Clinton Campaign Manager who said this, was not around in 2008, when Hilary got 737 State delegates and Obama got 940.
Oh, please. The vast majority of the country doesnât have an issue with âdirty money.â It just isnât a factor outside of the progressive echo chamber. If (some of) the Berniacs donât end up showing up to vote for Clinton in the end, itâs just a sham.
A win is a win.and Iowa is Iowa. Glad itâs over and done. Letâs move on. Congratulations to both candidates and their supporters.
âHillary Clinton did not really win this caucus. Itâs an illusion. Bernie Sanders won. We say so.â â The Media
On Tuesday, Hillary Clinton won at least three delegates⌠by coin toss. Congratulations.
And now, âCoin-toss Clintonâ and her followers are once again trying to push the narrative of inevitability.
But if the best you can do is break even after billionaire financiers funnel millions into your campaign, then youâve got a real problem on your hands. A tie in this case is a defeat for the well-funded, establishment candidate.
Exciting night last night, with plenty for both Democratic candidates and their followers to be happy about.
[Standard Disclaimer: This commenter wishes it to be known that in November he or she plans to vote for the Democratic nominee, whoever that turns out to be, and will encourage their fellow primary candidate supporters to do likewise.]
If a 50/50 split doesnât wake her campaign the fuck up and make her realize she needs to be courting Bernieâs supporters even as she tries to beat him, then something something CoakleyâŚCoakley Coakley CoakleyâŚ
Hillary needs to take stock of how she blew a 40 point lead in a state where she had every advantage. Her loss of young people to Bernie should scare her silly. The reality of this âwinâ wonât faze her, of course, but she should fire her inner circle and hire people who can help humanize her.
Again TPM headline misleads. At least read her speech before writing about it. She did NOT declare victory. Goid grief. The media, so irresponsible.
Yes. And as much as I appreciate excited (sometimes too excited) supporters on either side, we all must keep in mind whoever our candidate may be we canât afford to lose the White House. There is no realistic hope we will take back Congress in this cycle. And losing the WH means losing SCOTUS as well. What does it all mean? It means losing all the three branches to those nutjobs for years to come.
We simply cannot afford to let that happen. So please, letâs unite after all is done in the primaries.
It should scare all of us silly, because those are voters who will potentially stay home if she does nothing to thoroughly convince them, both rationally and emotionally, that she is worthy of their enthusiastic support come November even if Bernie loses. If she fails in that, they will give her and the rest of us a big fat âfuck you, weâll fix your fucking mess when youâre dead and out of the way.â âLesser of two evilsâ and âwe have to stop the Republicansâ WILL NOT be enough for them.
I wonât sit it out. If Hillary loses the nomination, Iâll be all in for Bloomberg.
She knows and always has. She was ahead before Sanders was known in Iowa. The caucus goers in Iowa are NOT a microcosm of the Iowa voters. Not a democratic process. As she indicated in her speech it was a relief.
Just so you know, she will likely not win in NH and will win after in the primaries to follow.
