Discussion for article #247641
Dump will take a nosedive today.
Grownups throughout the country and, increasingly, around the world are worrying about what to do about Trump.
That’s a good thing, I suppose – but better if everybody worried more about what to do about all of Trump’s supporters. They’re the real threat to America and the world.
This is very true. I’ve grown extremely tired of listening to “the anger of voters” which is all self-inflicted, but these folks hold grudges and cannot be rehabilitated. They are the real threat.
“Enemies foreign and domestic…”
It was a great speech. TPM would do a service to its readers to post the entire video. And later, today, Trump’s speech, as well. Of course, Bernie had a “schedule conflict”: truly unfortunate, because I know how much Bernie wanted to educate his Israel-hating supporters - young and old - about his strong support for Israel.
I’m a Clinton supporter, and I’m not impressed by her craven, abject fealty to the AIPAC extremists. In fact, I think it sucks. Their influence has distorted American policy in the Middle East as badly as the Cuban exile community did our policy towards Cuba.
I was actually expecting a Bernie bro to denounce her speech to supporters of the Zionist Entity pretty early on. But not surprised it comes from a self-described Clinton suppoter.
Can you share with some of your other strong pro-Clinton comments here at TPM? Thanks.
Well said (except for the “AIPAC extremists” redundancy). But what do you expect? This is the annual “Who Can Kiss the Israel Firsters’ Ass the Hardest Conference”. Disgusting watching these AMERICAN politicians grovel ESPECIALLY to a foreign power that many of its OWN leaders and former leaders admit is violating human rights on a daily basis.
As the only presidential candidate who actually performed work IN Israel, Senator Sanders recognizes that this is not “your father’s Israel” anymore. As the Republican Party was hijacked and taken over by right wing, racist extremists, so has Israel been.
“We need steady hands … not creepy little stub-fingered ones.”
Trump’s essential logic–If I say everything, including flatly contradictory things, then I will fool most of the people most of the time.
Well, I don’t want you to be disappointed, so here goes: HRC’s genuflexion before the Likud extension service that is AIPAC is disgusting, and shows that we can count on her to do nothing to correct our failed policy toward the Israeli apartheid regime.
You’re welcome!
As much as it may revolt us here at TPM, the fact is that AIPAC is a powerful group that has to be reckoned with. That’s one of the things that any POTUS has to work with, like it or not. They won’t go away or be diminished in any way by simply ignoring them and saying you’re not gonna speak to them. That’s just not a luxury that any American President has. They’ve got to be able to speak to and deal with all groups.
agreed, even speaking to AIPAC will hurt his neo Nazi support.
Watch for the wink to Duke, to cover his Ass…
Washington (CNN) - Several groups of rabbis and Jewish religious leaders are planning to protest Donald Trump’s speech to a major pro-Israel conference in Washington on Monday, accusing the presidential candidate of encouraging hatred.
The Jewish protesters will have to endure Trump's taunts of "Get'em outta here!!", followed by being sucker punched, carried out on stretchers and loaded onto trains.
Genuflexion? Uh, not this Administration and it’s one of the reasons why Netayahu despises this President so much (aside from the inherent racism). It’s also my understanding that Clinton was not particulalry enamored with Bibi either as SoS but that she worked with them as best she could.
AIPAC isn’t quite the power they used to be…and they are freaking out because their hold on the Evangelical Base - carefully cultivated by the Israeli Government since the 1970s - is slipping. Trump has that same base in his thrall - hell, even Talibangelicals like Russell Moore are freaking out, and others like Jerry Jr and Franklin have seen which way the wind is blowing, and hopped on the Trump Bandwagon. They aren’t leaders - they are followers of their flocks.
Simply not true anymore. AIPAC tried like hell to derail the Iran deal, and its passage showed that they are now a largely toothless entity. It’s time for the pandering to stop, that is, if one can show the slightest political courage.
Trump’s speech
Speech, really?!?! Wouldn’t jumble of loosely related thought balloons be more realistic?
