Warning: your typical “flip the script” scenario.
Hillary wins POTUS. A year later a Who’s Who of Republican politicians, intelligence and entertainment figures receive package bombs. Doubtless every GOP member of Congress, and Trump, and the entire wingnut media apparatus would be demanding the head of the FBI on a platter if a perp wasn’t named in about a week. And if Hillary didn’t shut down all of government in order to pursue the mad bomber there’d be hell to pay.
He added that Trump’s words “count,” and that he should be more aware of the power of his bully pulpit.
That’s nice, and I’m sincerely glad “his” bomb was intercepted.
But as a former “intelligence” official, would he like to take the opportunity to express his regret (can’t expect anger) for all the times the CIA has blasted its own (ostensible) enemies to smithereens?
Clapper? Brennan? Why does the GOP hate Intelligence?
Criminality and peril to innocent people aside, I do like the way this bombing drama drags eyes and ears away from GOP messaging immediately before the midterms. Trump is even having a hard time seizing the mic in the midst of all this.
There are obvious conclusions.
Because facts have a liberal bias?
Clapper is also known for repeatedly lying to congress about government surveillance programs. That he is currently one of the non-bad guys is yet another example of the rabbit hole we have gone down.
That’s assuming we survived the first years of countless lawsuits , Tea party rioting ,Trump ranting about "rigged elections " the nonstop “BENGAHZI-EMAILSERVER-YOU-NAME-IT” investigations of Hillary, the refusal of the republicans to seat a SCOTUS pick etc. ad infinatim
But still…WAAAAAAAAY better than where we are now
Clapper does not seem to be a guy to be intimidated.
Considering he bounced about Viet Nam in an antique cargo plane, doing intel gathering and dodging people shooting at him, it just does not seem in the mix.
This is one of the unit patches. I may have the wrong location however. I have always loved that logo. They still did the job.
Folks should know the bombers will improve their craft and delivery methods. Republicans who rather like the idea of designating political opponents as “enemies of the people” will happily normalize the anarchy. It will be good times indeed, until what goes around starts coming around
Heh. But seriously, these are the first two on Trump’s recent enemies list. Next up is James Comey.
In New Jersey, I put a baby shoe in a box and mailed it to my brother in Jacksonville. I was required to attest that there was nothing dangerous in the box. How does one get away with mailing a pipe bomb (or any kind of bomb)?
Reality has a liberal bias. That’s why the repubs won’t live there.
I assume because the sender just put stamps on them and put them in a mail slot, and did not take them to the counter to be processed.
I believe that on at least some of the packages the stamps weren’t cancelled. Hand delivery? In many locations across the country. A group with members in different locations?
That’s a function of the lumpy envelopes that won’t fit through the franking machinery.
Jim was never actually in Vietnam.
He was based in Thailand and flew missions over Laos (and maybe Cambodia, but not Vietnam).
Last year, I sold a trombone lead pipe (think of it as an expensive brass tube about 10 inches long and a little over 1/2 inch in diameter) to a guy in Germany. I packed it in a 3/4 inch piece of PVC which I then packed into a padded envelope. I had to answer the same questions – I’m sure if I were trying to mail it today I’d be considered a bomb maker.
I stand corrected, I was speaking too generally. I will have to do some research on that.
