Discussion: CIA Director: ‘Repugnant’ For Trump To Compare Intel Community To Nazis

“Repugnant” is a good word for Benedict Trump.

I think it’s repugnant to compare the release of unsubstantiated material to Naziism. Doesn’t really stack up to genocide.

Trump: You don’t have to be a liberal to know that means I am Smart. Everyone thinks so.

This has been said 1000 times.

…or Deplorable…as in Deplorable-in-Chief…

I wonder what some of those Hillary-hating agents are thinking now?

Actually, Donald, their “last shot” has not been fired yet. It’s only Tuesday.

From the HuffPost article:

"“I would have no interest in trying to give that dossier any additional airtime,” he [Brennan] said.

He specified that it was the FBI’s responsibility to investigate links between Trump and Russia, not the CIA’s."

This is exactly what worries me. Do you think the FBI would ever do an actual investigation?

Good for Brennan! And he is absolutely right, it is beyond disgraceful!

I love the cartoons of Tom Toles,
And especially I love this opinion by him in today’s WaPo!

With the inauguration this week, it’s probably time to start discussing impeachment

As the inauguration approaches, the feeling is palpable: There’s been some mistake, right?

And the answer is, yes, there has been some mistake. We made it. It feels a little like when you accidentally hit “send” on the email you absolutely did not mean to send to that person.

The consequences will be worse, but the feeling is the same, as is the irrevocable nature of the error. From here on in, it’s damage control.

The guessing game now is how soon Trump will be impeached. The other guess is which party will spearhead the impeachment effort. If the GOP were smart, it would see that Trump is going to be nothing but trouble for it. But the GOP is not smart. Yes, soon enough the party will tire of Trump’s wild promises of undeliverables like health insurance for everyone, wonderful insurance at little cost. His breaking up Europe and feeding it to Russia probably will lose its appeal for the GOP relatively quickly, too. As will Trump’s ongoing ability to alienate one segment of the public after another.

And even though President Pence would have enough working digits to sign all of the GOP reactionary legislation into law without all the Trump drama, it won’t be the GOP that tries to impeach Trump. Why not? Because the party has already shown its moral and tactical inability to stand up to him in any way whatsoever. Republicans are his miniature lap-elephants now.

Unfortunately, it won’t be the Democrats who successfully lead the move to impeach Trump either. They also have shown no ability to stop him. Instead of unifying everyone to the left of Trump to stand up to the virus that has gotten into the system, Democrats would rather continue with their argument as to who a real progressive is, and let Trump pick them off one at a time, which he will be more than happy to do.

So no one will lead a successful impeachment of Trump, although somebody had better, and quickly. Because Trump’s plan of action is to continue solidifying his power, through selective intimidation and reward of corporate and government power centers. And the longer that goes on, the more the damage he will do, and the messier his removal, when it finally comes to that, will be.

But there we are. And here we go.

Once again, we must look at any allegations from Trump against anyone as confirmation he is doing exactly what he is accusing others of doing.

In this case, “creating an atmosphere akin to Nazi Germany.”

In the meantime, a Trump adviser is pushing the idea of joint investment in huge state-run Russian investment fund. https://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2017-01-17/in-davos-trump-aide-talks-deals-with-sanctioned-kremlin-fund

Nah, the battle has yet to begin. The troops haven’t finished packing for war or kissed their loved ones goodbye. But make no mistake, there will be war and he’s NOT going to win a battle with the CIA. There’s no doubt that a good bit of what’s in that dossier is true, proof exists, and someone is going to get their hot little hands on it and leak it to the media. You might can get away with fucking with the FBI, but not the CIA.

Yes, actually I do. My understanding is that most of the election meddling into the Clintons came from one office in NY, and it was that office pressuring Comey to announce the Wiener laptop emails. IF that’s true then I imagine there are many more offices across the country that aren’t full of stupid people enthrall to Rudy Guliani who love their country and recognize the real danger to them, to all of us, that Peepee represents.

Now I read that the lunatic doubled down and intensified his insult on Sunday??!

Good piece, but I think he’s wrong here. This is where Democrats are right now in this moment of continued shock and grief, but it’s silly to think we’ll not climb out of it and pull ourselves together. I’m already seeing signs of this in those who are refusing to attend Peepee’s inauguration. I think we’ll see it even more on Saturday when millions of people take to the streets in protest. And once the dust settles and we have a new DNC chair, who is going to be a pretty diehard liberal, the way forward will begin to take shape. This isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon and remember that the Republican Party at this point in 2013 looked even more on the ropes than the Democratic Party does now.

Interesting. That would neatly delineate the “cabal” that Christopher Steele was alarmed about. I hope you’re right.

He told the Journal it was only included in the briefings on Russian interference in the election to ensure that Trump knew of the racy allegations it contained.

This line here tells me all I need to know to understand just what HO understands about intelligence reports and the briefings. He is not capable of grasping what’s being said, what the officers are attempting to get across to his child-like brain.

You know, in my late thirties, I began to look back on key events in my life. I was able to identify clear markings in my outlook on certain subjects, my understandings of the events, how they unfolded and what they represented. Growth, basically. HO never left his early teens – never. Call it mental illness or whatever – the fact is he is just not capable of understanding complex details. To him, it’s Greek – just like life was to me when I was a teen. Fortunately for me, I was was surrounded by a nice mix of people from family, neighbors, friends and school teachers who contributed to my natural, normal growth – a growth that the vast majority of us can relate to and one with which I’m guessing almost all of you can recall to a large degree. HO cannot. Those complex intel reports are a lot like detailed stories of the world’s growth, the world in which the leader must make hundreds and thousands of decisions … based, in part, on those reports. The intelligence community represents parents, family, friends, teachers – the very people most teens tend to rebel against.

What are you talking about? Yes the GOP lost the Presidency in 2012, but in 2010 they had taken back the house and almost took the Senate, and gained more ground in 2012. The Democrats sacrificed control of state houses everywhere and the entire Congress to get Obama reelected and it was a disaster.
The GOP has been playing the long game since 2008 and it has been VERY successful at it gaining Governorships and State House/Senate control all over the USA while simultaneously blocking over 100 federal judgeships.
This was just the successful end-game where they (with the help of the Russians and the FBI) got “their man” elected to the ONE office they had been denied for 8 years.
NOW they can stock all those Judicial positions with conservative warriors and even one or two SCOTUS seats.
They have kicked our asses for years now and like the frog in boiling water most Democrats don’t even realize it.
We need to start over at the grassroots level and work like mad to climb back into relevance in 2018 and 2020 and it won’t be easy with the gerrymandering and the both the Federal Courts and SCOTUS against us.
