I would prefer Trent Lott to this fringer - and I can’t stand old Trent.
Mississippi Churning…
Much better clickbait headline: Chris McDaniel Switching Races
Remember, folks, this seat is more winnable than AL. MS has the latest black population in the country. It’s about 43% minority. A Democrat wouldn’t need much of the white vote to win. But Democrats have to start registering folks NOW. I don’t know what the voting requirements in MS are, but it’s probably a safe bet that there are a whole lot of roadblocks to keep minorities from voting. Those roadblocks can be overcome by starting early and helping people to get the necessary ID to vote.
I don’t think trans-racial would play well in old Miss…
If he wins the primary it could be a Dem pickup in the general. Remember Alabama. Remember last night. There’s no such thing as a truly safe Republican seat this year.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and President Trump have both encouraged Bryant to appoint himself, but sources say he’s not thrilled with the idea.
Thrilled? Color me surprised. Who would want to run opposite a candidate who just barely lost the most recent primary and has friction burns across his forehead from wearing his pointy white hat?
Bryant must be stalling on that appointment to give time for the dirt to start flowing in this righteous era of the #metoo movement.
That maybe part of his transracial move-- nabbing the Mississippi progressives. Clever.
You mean he’s changed his racial profile to “other?”
What a waste of protoplasm. Pleh!
Funny how he suddenly discovered he just hates “contentious contests among GOP members.”
The “white” glove was a nice touch, sir…
This guy has the face of somebody with a closet full of shit. Here’s hoping somebody has the right fan.
Oh. That’s good. A la Finian’s Rainbow.
If you’re a member at Political Wire, you should read this:
This could be good news for the Dems. McDaniel is likely to split the GOP vote against an establishment Republican in the jungle-style Special Election in November. If a strong candidate (Ronnie Musgrove? Brandon Presley?) runs for this seat, the Dem would have an edge — especially if McDaniel and a strong Democrat faced off in the runoff.
If McDaniel won, it’d be horrible for the republic. But the silver lining would be that it would clarify the GOP’s racist brand for the rest of the country.
NOTE: I changed first graf to reflect that there’s no primary for Cochran’s seat; it’ll be a jungle-style Special Election with a likely runoff in December.
I want Trump to have a fighter who will stand next to him, in the prison cafeteria.
There’s a lot of sweetness in that man’s soul. I can just tell.
