Discussion for article #236137
“I believe that climate change is real, man-made … and we don’t need to actually do anything about it”.
Christie … the ultimate in political “chicken and waffles”
Christie can speak more freely because at this point he has nothing to lose as a candidate.
Well, there goes the rest of the Base.
Hah. Still trying to remain relevant I see, by distinguishing himself from all the other bozos in the Republican race. Sorry bub…but you missed the boat. Now for sure you’d never get through a primary. Toast, toast, toast. If he thinks this will endear him to Dems to make up for lost time…that ship has sailed too, a long time ago. He no longer has a natural constituency to fall back on no matter what he says at this point.
He is so desparate that he is trying to use reason and sensibility??
Although Christie does not frequently weigh in on climate change
“weigh in,” tee hee
If he wasn’t so before, he’s toast now with the Tea Baggers.
Looks like Bernie Sanders has perfected his Chris Christie impersonation.
That’s it. He’s done.
OMG. What will my conservative republican, climate denying sister who lives n New Jersey think? She loves this guy - or at least she did. I am sure he will know be on her shitlist
Hmm. I’m just a bit suspicious. Maybe global warming is his new excuse for shutting down the bridge.
I’m curious if his comments will help tip the scales on this issue. Doubtful on the issue, but certain on the tipping part.
And nothing to win either.
He’s trying to appeal to the independent streak in NH voters. He won’t win Iowa. NH is must-win for him. JEB probably won’t win Iowa and NH is must-win for him too.
Gutlessness disguised as gutsiness. You know that he doesn’t have the honesty to say that human population growth and careless industrialization are the primary causes of global warming, and that therefore, as sure as the sun rises in the east, he will walk his statement back within the week, negating it with some joke about sunspots or cow farts being just as much to blame.
Even a stopped clock…
So that removes Christie from both 1st Order Denialism (climate change ain’t happening) and 2nd Order Denialism (it’s all natural cycles; faked data; etc.). He still possibly could be a 3rd Order Denier (nothing we can do; don’t ruin the economy/take my SUV), but 2nd Order Denialists are the biggest threat right now, so this is good news.
Here is my Best Case Scenario for Christie’s dead-man-walking campaign:
- Christie refuses to admit his campaign is DOA, and stays vocal at least through Iowa
- Christie latches onto this semi-sane viewpoint as His Big Issue
- The rest of the GOP Clown Car is forced to respond to Christie’s relative sanity on this issue
Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio, I would think, would be most open to a GAW-friendly lifestyle (Global Anthropogenic Warming, heh) since they’re from the penis of America, which will experience the most shrinkage in the rising waters.
“I think…”
There’s one thing I know about Chris Christie. He’s no leader.
I suspect that now that everybody knows everything that comes out of his mouth is a lie, he’ll start spewing liberal truths to discredit them.
