OMG a black man with a doobie? THat’s grounds for being shot for sure.

Look–if I didn’t want to shoot someone and their wife was right there. I would ask her to help me with her husband.

THis was not only tragic, it was stupid.

Why no audio till half-way through it?

How was he a clear and present danger?

I learned nothing from that video.

The dash cam video shows him walking backwards… Is that really a reason to kill someone?

The dashcam video shows he was not pointing a gun at police. Early news reports said officials claimed he was. He has something in his hand, but you can’t tell what it is at this quality. And thanks to situations like the murder of Walter Scott, it’s sadly credible that the gun could have been planted.

This release just reinforces my opinion that the cops murdered an innocent man and then falsified evidence to cover it up.

I was thinking the same thing.

Freeze the body cam at 0:17. SCOTT HAS NO GUN!

Murderers with badges.

He is well within his rights to have a gun, as NC is Open Carry. Interesting that cops can have a shoot out with the NY / NJ terror suspect and still take him wounded but alive, but not a motorist who is backing away from them.

This corrupt police chief neglects to tell us that his deputy planted the gun and corrupted the crime scene. Doesn’t surprise me. Another article was just published in another cop murder where the cops planted the gun, caught on video. This police chief is a liar and criminally culpable in impeding the investigation with dishonest statements.

‘“Our practice and our protocol is to release as soon as we can to inform,” Putney said.’

That is not what he was saying three days ago. He said he would not release it under any circumstances and that it would be a disservice to the “victim” if he did.

Liar.

a picture of a gun and a bag of pot are not evidence. The evidence is controlled by the cops and they will do their best to muddy the waters.

Looked to me like his hands were at his sides. Not near waist, not up. (0:54)

That’s why they added “marijuana” to the planted evidence because being in possession of both a firearm and illegal drugs becomes a felony and you have no right to carry while committing a “crime”. Notice that not a word was said about this “marijuana” until today.

No, but being Black is more than enough reason for the police to kill someone.

It’s my bet that the gun is a throwdown gun the police have on hand to cover themselves in cases like this. It is going to be very interesting to see how they square their behavior with the fact that North Caroline is an “open carry” state.

Oh wait! The open carry law has a codicil - “Does Not Apply To Blacks With Guns Police will enforce the old law on them…”

This article doesn’t state it, but they are not releasing all of the videos that they have.

He is walking backwards with his hand at his side it doesn’t look like he ever raises his hands (assuming there was a gun in his hands) so why did they have to fill him full of bullets. This policy of shoot to kill espeically where doesn’t appear to be an imminent threat Why didn’t they let his wife talk to him. I don’t get this type of murdering of civilians.

A while back maybe even a year ago, a white man brandishing a rifle in a strip mall was terrorizing citizens and the police pulled up and had their doors open with their guns pointing at him and proceeded to talk him down for over a half hour. This is beyond disgusting.

I have made that argument before even my post below of a white man brandishing a rifle in a strip mall yet they talked him down for over an hour asking him to drop his gun

Sorry, but gun or no gun, that was an unjustified use of deadly force. There is no way anyone involved could have felt their life was in danger.

I have been in 20+ firefights in my life, to include close quarters, and I would have NEVER engaged someone in that situation. There was no hostile act nor any hostile intent that I can see, on the part of Mr. Scott.

Whoever pulled the trigger should be prosecuted for, at the very least, involuntary manslaughter.
