âI told them, you know, a lot of everything Iâve essentially been doing for quite a long time, including, obviously, you know, everything in Cleveland.â
Says the man whoâs been proclaiming his innocence.
A controversial London-based academic with close ties to Nigel Farage has been detained by the FBI upon arrival in the US and issued a subpoena to testify before Robert Mueller, the special counsel who is investigating possible collusion between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin.
Ted Malloch, an American touted last year as a possible candidate to serve as US ambassador to the EU, said he was interrogated by the FBI at Bostonâs Logan airport on Wednesday following a flight from London and questioned about his involvement in the Trump campaign.
In a statement sent to the Guardian, Malloch, who described himself as a policy wonk and defender of Trump, said the FBI also asked him about his relationship with Roger Stone, the Republican strategist, and whether he had ever visited the Ecuadorian embassy in London, where the Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has resided for nearly six years.
In a detailed statement about the experience, which he described as bewildering and intimidating at times, Malloch said the federal agents who stopped him and separated him from his wife âseemed to know everything about meâ and warned him that lying to the FBI was a felony. In the statement Malloch denied having any Russia contacts.
Hey, has the âprofessorâ in Malta turned up? His disappearance is very suggestive of something.
Semi on/off topic - this news appears to be a really BFD:
Shock and awe. If youâre under investigation by the IC, you have no secrets.
Iâve always been wary of Page, and think him a dangerous figure behind all the goofiness. He is the closest thing to a Keyser Söze that we have in this scandal. Think of all the people the Russians have knocked off by various means, yet Page still sticks around despite the fact that he canât keep his mouth shut.
I can understand why Mueller went after Gates as a cooperating witness because you wouldnât want to hang your âcollusionâ case on someone like Page. But I think that the intel Mueller got on Page from the various intercepts have, imho, probably given Mueller a key part of the roadmap to figure out what happened that summer of 2016.
Based on what CNN and Reuters reported yesterday, Mueller is looking in at that exact sequence of events which Adam Schiff covered with Page in his testimony from June through early August 2016. Itâs where the deal was cemented. The difference is that Mueller has Gatesâ story on what happened, which means itâs from a higher level in the campaign, a higher level in terms of connections into Russian intelligence and the pro-Putin Russian/Ukrainian oligarchy, and more detailed and organized information.
Had not read that. Thanks for posting.

If Mueller can also bag that grinning fool Farage, so much the better.

âMalloch said the federal agents who stopped him and separated him from his wife âseemed to know everything about meâ and warned him that lying to the FBI was a felony.â
Yup. Mueller and Co. already know the answers to the questions they are asking via their investigation. Lots to work with, so donât lie.
Carter Page must be one of those people who âunwittinglyâ helped the Russians, because he doesnât seem to have any wits about him.
We read about these airport interceptions of people, whisked off to a room by agents to be grilled. Yet I rarely read of the accosted person protesting and clamming up until an attorney can be summoned to observe and advocate on their behalf, in the midst of the questioning. What are a personâs rights, especially a non-citizen, when theyâre detained and confronted by the FBI for an airport interview? Certainly they can refuse to cooperate, no? Lock me up and get me an attorney is seemingly never what we read is how it plays out. If any of these people genuinely had seriously damaging information, including stuff that could land themselves in hot water, in addition to other targets, it would seem theyâd just clam up. Especially considering they may have more to fear from Muellerâs targets than whatever harm Mueller can inflict upon them.
I donât know if thatâs unwitting or witless assistance.
I feel sorry for the Special Counselâs office if they have to relive that horrific shitshow that was the GOP convention
OK. OK, @khyber900, I just gotta say this. If Carter Page is Keyser Soze, Donald Trump must be Winston Churchill.
Also, how the Hell to you make umlats?
Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Page both encountered Russian ambassador Sergei Kislyak while in Cleveland for the convention.
When will the good senatah from the Confederate States of Americah be entering a plea agreement?
Really, Iâve tried and I always burn the cream before I ever even get to the part where you add brown sugar and lemon zest.
âI told them, you know, a lot of everything Iâve essentially been doing for quite a long time, including, obviously, you know, everything in Cleveland,â
The clear speaking eloquence weâve come to expect from the tRump maladministration.
Upstanding, Upright Carter Page
Managed the Republican stage.
His noble ambition?
Fullfill Putinâs mission.
Canât type more, 'cause Iâm too filled with rage.
The revelation from CNN yesterday regarding Gates should scare the crap out of a lot of people. I think its already started people unraveling in the WH. But it should be a huge wake up call to Manafort. Mueller basically broadcast, âI donât need anything on Paul, I have him dead to rights anywayâ.
That sort of confirms what Iâve been thinking for a while. Manafortâs window to cut a deal has already closed. Mueller doesnât need his cooperation, and will use his trial and conviction to build the foundation for his other cases. Basically, Manafortâs âUse as last resortâ button doesnât work anymore.
It also got considerably worse for Manafort that Dowd publicly said he offered up pardons for silence for both Manafort and Flynn. That revelation pretty much destroys that as a possibility now (not to mention landing Dowd in a witness tampering scheme).
As far as Page goesâŠwho the hell knows? I think the guy is certifiable personally. But I agree, Mueller is going to be MUCH more comfortable with a case built on Gatesâ testimony than Pages. Anyone would.
I havenât heard about this. Whatâs the story?
