Discussion: Capito: If I Have To Be The Vote That Kills The Senate Repeal Bill, 'I Will Be It'

Capito also said that Republicans may have to work with Democrats if this effort fails.

GASP! What a concept! Working with the other party in a Democracy.

Keep calling and writing, please. This isn’t dead until it’s dead.

And not even then. There’s always sabotage.

Cue the enraged tweets from WH, death threats from Deplorables, non-stop trashing on Fox News, fake nudes on Breitbart, etc.

Shorter GOP: We need ObamaCare around so we can continue to blame it for everything that is wrong in this country. We just want to run for office to destroy it forever

My hope is that the bill suffers the death ala “Murder On The Orient Express.”

This illustrates the difference between the two parties.
The GOP view it as winner take all. They present a platform of what they want to do, and if they win they implement it and don’t care what Dems
think (since in their minds the election litigated the platform to adopt).

The Dems, however, want to reach a consensus about how to implement their goals and make everyone agree on best way forward. So the Dems end up compromising to get things done as consensus (thinking everyone will then like them), but instead the GOP voter sees that as a failure of implimenting their platform by the Dems and justification to demand further moves right…since Dems seem to agree with them. Similar with obstruction. Ie supreme court.

Meanwhile the Dem voters become less and less supportive of what has become GOP lite by the Dems.

Especially because she’s (gasp) a woman.

Such a sweetly ironic Biblical summation of this whole shameful enterprise, by (intentionally or not?) hinting at Jesus’ warning that a rich man enters heaven (tax cuts, anyone?) with greater difficulty than a camel goes through the eye of a needle. West Virginia might get it. But also hopeful signs, if we now have affirmations of willingness to be the swing vote against this abomination; please may the turtle’s support continue to crumble.

You are telling me that Breitbart has nudes? Fake or otherwise this has to be the best/only reason to look at that site.

Gee. A whole new generation of Republicans is finally discovering what democracy is all about. Yes, you have to compromise. Surprise!!!

Bullshit, dear.

The Democratic party is far from “GOP lite.”
Only the far-left purity types believe that nonsense.

Too bad she and other Rs that supposedly care can’t come up with the actual tweaks that Obamacare really does need to make it almost as good as the single payer we really need but probably can’t get at this time.

“Capito” is the root word for “capitulate”, so let’s not count too many chickens. She’s a rethug at heart, after all, and will end up voting for her party’s horrible bill if she gets some goodies for WV (like those awesome coal jobs that are coming back).

Nope.

Both are from the Latin for “head.”

Wrong. She knows the kind of healthcare those out of work miners in her state need, esp. the provision in ACA which provides some coverage for black lung disease. She’s saying she’ll vote no and nowhere does she say she’ll vote yes. Unless of course your crystal ball is free of smudges and you can see into the future.

For once, this is not some mealy-mouthed “I’m troubled” statement. I don’t see how she can back away from this. She’s a hard NO. And that’s a good thing!

Its only not true because GOP keeps shifting the goalpost towards fringe far right.

Nope.

It’s not true because the Democratic party is at about the same place on the liberal/conservative spectrum that it has occupied for the last 50 or so years.

For the far-left purity types, anything that is not exactly as they want it is 'GOP lite."
This is because they have more in common with the Tea Party/Freedom Caucus RWNJs than they care to admit.
