Well at least he ran for Congress and got away from all possible temptation. Because if there’s one thing we’ve learned over these last several years of having our illusions ripped away one after another, it’s that there’s nothing like giving a man a lot of power to cure him of a predilection for raping boys. Like the way Jerry Sandusky finally straightened up and flew right once he became a prominent public figure in Pennsylvania with his outstanding charity work.
Yep. I’m sure the whole time he was in Congress, he lived a live beyond reproach without so much of a whisper of scandal reaching the ears of his colleagues.

I know this is nakedly partisan and probably kind of evil of me, but: I’m kind of wishing this Duggar and Hastert stuff was coming out in May '16 instead of May '15.
Oh well, I’ve already made my peace with the idea that, if there’s a hell, I’m probably gonna end up there.
If I understand the history correctly, in the late 1990s, the President was impeached for lying about a sexual affair by a House of Representatives led by a man who was also then hiding a sexual affair, who was supposed to be replaced by another Congressman who stepped down when forced to reveal that he too was having a sexual affair, which led to the election of a new Speaker of the House who now has been indicted for lying about payments covering up his sexual contact with a boy.
So … What’s John Boehner hiding?

Just curious…
When someone responds to my comment and I want to acknowledge their input, if I “heart” will the person always know that the heart is from me? Sometimes I get notices of hearts, but not all of them.
What I’m really asking is: is there a way to acknowledge someone’s reply to my comment without actually having to reply? Sometimes I really appreciate a reply, but don’t have anything to say in return, except “I hear you.”

The “heart” click always gets to the heartee (in my experience) unless the system has a temporary fail, but you can also send a private message if you want to go that far. But sending a “I hear you” message also works.

Hastert is accused of being a sexual predator, and while the others you mentioned (and I think it’s Bob Livingstone) are criminal in their various ways, preying on students wasn’t the issue under discussion. Hastert was being extorted for having been a predator, also a crime, so we’re going to hear more about that.
