Discussion: Buzzfeed: Feds Considered 2nd Alleged Victim In Charging Hastert

Discussion for article #236931

It’s just sad if this is true. I have no political affinity with Hastert. This would be disgusting and inappropriate (if not criminal) behavior. What just fascinates me is the chutzpah it would take to go from teacher/coach to elected public official to very public leadership roles and then onto the lobby circuit to make tons of money and stay in the public eye. How could he take on those roles and personae knowing these secrets/ certainly he knew it would/could all come out in some disastrous manner. If nothing else, pure human emotion would have him retire from public service (and, incidentally, already enriched), sigh a big relief and quietly sink into the woodwork.

Committing wrongs that hurt other(s) does not come cheaply. Obviously he needed a career path that earned him lots to have the wherewithal to pay to keep other(s) quiet.

Hastert must have one enormous . . . ego.

The hits from the Party of Family Values just keep coming and coming (sorry).

And it is almost always abusive. Except David Vitter who paid for his kinks.

Such an example for Amurka.

It’s not chutzpah, it’s arrogance. It’s also a personality defect I now call the Zimmerman effect: Once you’ve gotten away with murder you feel bullet proof. In Hastert’s case, once he made it through the first few years with no repercussions, he probably began to feel invincible. Think Jerry Sandusky.

Why do you have any doubt that raping high school boys may be criminal behavior?

Does this mean the Hastert Rule is dead?

They say “tragedy” comes in 3’s. So we have Josh Dugger and now Denny Hastert. Who will be the third?

How do Denny Hastert’s past misdeeds compare to Newt Gingrich, David Livingstone, George Bush and Dick Cheney’s past misdeeds?

On the positive side, Hastert will undoubtedly get his own reality show on TLC …the (T)ouching (L)ittle ©hildren channel!

BTW: Has Mike Huckabee come to his defense yet?
Oh, what am I thinking? …GOP Conservative Man on Boy action…It doesn’t have the high standards the Republican Cons and Baggers demand for their support; it needs moar’ incest and girls…and Duggary’!

FOX reports on this tonight: “At least it’s not ***BENGHAZEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE’!***”

In his defense, Hastert could argue that he was considering a life change…and he was diddling the boys to practice a requirement for entering the priesthood!
BTW: What’s the over/under on Lindsey being the next Republican perv to be indicted?
(Oh…and that “over/under” is too, too easy, so don’t say it!) ~snicker!~

Welcome to Denny’s! How may I serve you, boys?

Now everyone knows why Denny was so happy playing around with his big hammer pounding away while he was speaker, the question is who pounded who.

How did David Vitter pay for his sins? He’s still senator from Louisiana. He wasn’t touched at all.

I hope the press keeps calling it the Hastert Rule. Make the GOP face up to the fact that they made a child-molester/rapist Speaker of the House every time Boehner demands a majority of Republicans before putting a bill up for vote.

And, seriously, what the hell is it with Republicans and sexing up kids? Fucking pedophiliac sociopaths.

Which other Republican Senators and House Reps. were teachers, coaches, or otherwise had access to kids? It’s getting to the point where it’s just as dangerous to leave kids in care of a Republican as it is a priest.

Too much to cover in a blog comment. I think we should leave that analysis to the sign-in ledger for the 10th circle of hell.
