Discussion: Bush Ethics Lawyer: Electors Shouldn't Vote For Trump With Current Conflicts

Folks, we’re through the looking glass and the press doesn’t seem to realize it. We have a Trumpette saying there are no facts anymore; reality is what you want it to be (“Quantum Governance”?). We have a blatant racist getting a large segment of the African-American vote. We have an anti-Wall Street president-elect appointing the Poster Child of Wall Street to a cabinet post (Mnuchin). Not even Orwell imagined a Trump would rise from the fever swamp. The conflicts, like facts, will simply be swept away because “brave new world”. The law will genuflect to Trump, not the other way 'round. We are in for an administration what will have us longing for the days of Nixon.

documents taking Trump out of business operations are NOT the same as business ownership…nor profit(eering). Words matter.

Clinton earned 88% of the African-American vote. I.e., HO got very little.

The Electoral College meets on Dec. 13 to elect the president. Don the Con scheduled his “news conference” to announce how he plans to stay involved with his businesses 2 days later. Coincidence?

I feel like it is 1938 all over again and Congress is full of Good Germans and Neville Chamberlains!

By “large” I mean the roughly 22% he won. That’s a very large segment when polls indicated he was only supposed to get about 1%.

Donald Trump and the U.S. Government as it’s laid out cannot coexist and for the life of me I can’t tell which will win out, or even what the outcome hinges on.

The EC votes on the 19th.

That would be large. But he didn’t get 22% of the Black vote. He got roughly 8%.

This is an early analysis based on exit poll. As full analysis is becoming available, that number will probably decline, much like it did with the early numbers touting he beat Romney’s percentages with Hispanics (He didn’t. He wasn’t even remotely close).

Not to mention that the contract for the lease has a specific clause barring ownership by an elected official. But soon, Donald will pick his own GSA head and I’m sure they will overlook that codicil in the lease.
:worried:

He spoke with the Taiwanese president breaking 50 years of protocol and probably didn’t realize it. Warm relations with China to follow.

I thought it wasn’t till the 19th?

Except he did not get a large segment of the African American vote at all. 12% max.

Are we reduced to laughing at how inept and unprepared he is?

Conflicts? Like Trump stating publicly that he wants to expand his personal business to Taiwan, and then calling the President of Taiwan may piss off China? Like that?

Let’s be very clear. Donald Trump is going to do whatever the fuck he wants. No one will tell him otherwise. I think at this point his conflicts and actions represent a clear and present danger to the country and it’s citizens. The electors need to do their job as they are the only constitutional mechanism that can put an end to this.

More Nazil hyperbole, the sure way to lose an argument without even having anyone arguing the other side.

Try instead comparing to Mussolini or Berlusconi.

Trump in a couple months: “Being President is costing me too much money. And it’s a lot of work. I’m outta here.”
