Discussion: Brownback's Tax Hikes For Health Companies In Danger Because Of Angry Healthcare Org

Just reverse the damn tax decreases for the Koch brothers a little and Brownback will be able to balance the budget. That won’t happen because apparently once a Kansas Republican is bought he stays bought.

We should feel sympathy for the thousands of Kansans that voted against Brownback in the last two elections. They’re being unjustly punished by their ignorant/selfish neighbors.

Also, Brownback’s tax scheme is working exactly to plan, which you can see in the line about how the only options are to “raise taxes or cut more spending.” Guess which one Brownback and Ko. are aiming for? Bankrupting the state was the explicit but unstated goal of these policies, and they’re working wonderfully.

Funny watching these states try to fill the holes that wouldn’t be there if they expanded medicaid

Nothing. They depend on the taxpayers of all the other states for that.

I’d like to feel sorry for the good folks in Kansas. And, in fact I do. However, that doesn’t change the fact that they had several years to see what this clown was doing, and yet they re-elected him to continue his destructive policies. Now his schools are closing early, his state economy is tanking, and he’s proposing all kinds of solutions to penalize those who aren’t part of the problem. Kansas is heading directly into the dumpster…head first. It’s no secret where they’re headed and yet they continue to allow this clown to lead them there. While I generally support Federal help when an area is struck by a natural disaster, this is not one of those. To me it’s no different than North Carolina legislating that sea levels cannot rise, or Florida officially saying that “climate change” not only does not exist, but criminalizing any discussion of the topic. When folks in Florida no long have drinkable water, when the barrier islands of North Carolina go under, don’t call the rest of us. You brought that upon yourselves. Kansas? Same thing. Sorry, but if you’re not willing to help yourself and you continue to make terrible choices then I’m off the hook.

And even when…or if…they fix things, the kids who suffered through the destruction of the education system will be forever scarred. they don’t get a second chance at second grade.

Understood, I feel the same, but since this is a “what if” on my part, I’m allowing for miracles, like the ghost of FDR visiting contingent “President McCain” on Xmas Eve.

Step 1: Raise taxes on insurers to give the wealthy more tax breaks.

Step 2: Blame resulting rising insurance prices on Obamacare.

Step 3: Bask in Teatroll ignorance.

Sounds like Kansans are paying the “privilege tax” for the privilege of having Brownback as their Governor.

Looks like taxtile dysfunction to me.

Viagra perhaps? Is that still covered?

This governor is a real piece of work. What an asshole he is, particularly when it comes to actual governance.

Just like all the other Repuglican Governors with Repuglican legislators, he has essentially bankrupt his State out of a goofy belief in a misguided ideology. Now, with only fees to fall back on, the oldest gimmick in the book to make up for lost revenues, he’s into doing a whole lot of fuzzy math to get it all to work. Meanwhile, he’s gonna try as hard as possible to pull the wool over citizens eyes in order to coverup his failure at balancing his whackadoodle budget…a mandatory responsibility of his job description. But he just keeps digging bigger holes.

Good for Aetna I guess, for speaking up…but I really have no love for them either. Who would’ve thought that a “privilege fee” is what you attribute to a health insurance company that provides Medicaid coverage. That’s some privilege, huh? Weird stuff in Gooperland.

If this measure passes, I won’t be at all surprised to see Aetna pull out of providing Medicaid entirely at some point through their company in Kansas, or at least grandfathering those that already have it but not extending it to new Medicaid recipients. Aetna will end up having the last word one way or another, and Brownback has been forewarned.

I have no remorse for my schadenfraude. It is simply a result of xtianist hatred for any but themselves. It is amazing they can still see past the motes in their eyes.

Aetna is getting in a total froth because of Brownback!

Yeah. Kansas and Maine and some other states chose to keep Brownback et al. in office. I have no sympathy for the majority of voters, but I wish there was some way to protect their victims.
