Discussion: Brownback To Propose Tax Revenue Increase To Help Fill Budget Gap

Understatement of the Week: “Revenue didn’t come in quite as was projected.”

Indeed. Similarly, the Maginot Line wasn’t quite as effective as the French projected. These things happen.

“Revenue didn’t come in quite as was projected,” he told the Eagle. “If we can do some things on the tax side and do some things on the budget side and still maintain that overall philosophy, then he’s always been open to that.”

Yep, that has always been his philosophy, and we have always been at war with EastAsia.

Strange. I thought this was going to be a miracle.

If you believe in miracles, anything is possible; even making 2+2 equal 5.

I wonder when Republicans are going to stop listening to Arthur Laffer who has never been right. Ever. About anything.

Of course Brownback is going to raise taxes on the poor. His God, Ayn Rand, believes that raising taxes on the poor will make them work harder and hate Government even more!

Revenue didn’t come in quite as was projected…

Not even close, Brownback. He’s going to screw the middle class and try to blame the poor for why he needs to do it. Typical cowardly conservative behavior when they are caught having to defend their failed policies.

How can somebody be off by hundreds of millions of dollars? Oh, I forgot. Bush was off by billions and billions of dollars. Bush sets the standard by which all Republican compute their voodoo economics. Or maybe that’s more like they don’t compute or even know how to count? Rely on hunches instead of math and science?

Don’t we all feel so secure knowing that Congressional Republicans just this week went back to Bush’s way of accounting our federal budgets?

What??? Trickle down didn’t work… I’m shocked…

Now I see that Kansas has its share of renegade revenues which are presumably holed up somewhere to avoid being captured and spent.

The Bonnie and Clyde of revenue escape.

Of course the new taxes will be on working people and small business…This is the only trickle down that really works… Like a plumber learns on his first day on the job…Shit flows downhill…

“Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback ® will propose tax revenue increases in order to address the state’s budget shortfall, the Wichita Eagle reported on Saturday.”

So is the gov. gonna rescind the tax cuts he made in the past? Will he admit he made a very costly mistake?
Likely neither. I bet he’ll find a way to place the total blame on democrats if not Obama.

The fundamental assumptions of conservative economics and the resultant economic policy prescription have been repeatedly shown to be totally wrong and do not work in every situation they have been tried. For example, President Dick Bush’s hands off deregulation resulted in greatest financial meltdown in history, his tax cuts to the rich led not to growth but to loss of 25 million jobs and the biggest deficits and bailouts. Angela Merkel’s conservative policies for Europe have led to poverty and malaise in Europe.

Right! Cut the education budget to make up for your stupidity, Governor. That way you can dumb down the kids even more so that when they grow up they’ll vote for delusional jackasses like you and the rest of your RTP buddies. Good thinking, Guv, good thinking. Oh, wait… it’s already working, given the results of the last election.
