Cue right-wing misogynist vindictive glee.

Well, I’m sure nobody saw that coming (snark!)

I am no right wing misogynist and I am so glad she’s gone. Her performance in from the committee was pathetic. Good riddance. Lots of other heads need to start rolling

Will it make a difference? I think it’s the culture of the service. Drinkin’ and whorin’ has priority over protecting the president, especially this president.

Yeah, you can see the downward spiral. I bet it would not be hard to see the SS as a nest of nepotism and cronyism too.

Good. And this is not misogynistic, just performance based. Under her leadership the Secret Service has had a pretty shoddy track record - from Columbian hookers to muted White House intruder alarms to armed elevator riders (!!!). She needed to go.

Edit - ok, so not the hookers; thanks for the correction. But sheesh, it’s time to 86 the BS that seems rampant in that agency and that starts at the top.

Yeah it’s not like women need to be in this type of position in the first place. Maybe the little lady needs to find a more appropriate and less politically correct occupation, like being an RN in a hospital or baking cookies in a corner cafe. Let the real men do the work. I’m sure Joe Scarborough and Mika Brezinsky would agree.

I loved how a former member of the Secret Service noted how the department hasn’t been the same since it was folded into Homeland Security. I know a ton of guys who feel the same way about their departments. What we need is a decent restructuring of the Executive Branch that would simplify the chain of command, group the departments properly, and cut down on duplicate services.

Oh, I agree. The egregious failures in SS protection mean that the Director would have to go. BUT–that was not my comment. I’m talking about the glee that Limbaugh, Gomert, and the rest of the Hate-Filled Klown Kar will emit.

Funny how NOW the House Oversight Committee is SO concerned about Obamas security…

Can’t say I didn’t see this coming, but I fail to see what difference it is going to make. Culture is culture.

I don’t think any of the hookers incidents happened on her watch.

Huh? Are you saying she should’ve kept her job?

My guess is that she wont be the only one leaving soon after listening to that Maddow report the other night.

I’m saying her gender should not have been a factor, as Morning Joe and Ingraham have suggested. I take umbrage in the idea that a woman should only be allowed to do certain work, and that the only reason a woman can be hired at a job is due to “political correctness”.This suggests they are not truly qualified, are not good enough and will never measure up, no matter what they do.

What does gender have to do with it? She’s incompetent, and made a fool of herself today as well. If someone is incompetent, you fire them, be they male, female, black, white, etc.

Sounds like the old boy network of subordinate supervisors conspired to get their boss fired because she wasn’t one of them.

It’s curious how all of these revelations (some three years old) have just been revealed by the (new) Washington Post and Washington Examiner, and just in time for the November elections.

She’s a sacrificial lamb, and nothing more.

Her resignation will cause a lot of harumphing and self-satisfied pontification, but it won’t do a damned thing to change how the Secret Service operates or change how its culture created the atmosphere for all these bad situations.

He hookers were before her time. Still, I’d rather have an agent pay for sex on his own time (as in: none of my business) than see them neglect their only reason for existence.
Even if some misogynists will rejoice: this was inevitable, even before yesterday and certainly after yesterday.
