Discussion: BREAKING: Secret Service Director Julia Pierson Resigns

Riiiiight. It makes total sense to risk the life of the president and his family - not to mention your own job - in order to take out your boss. Totally logical.

I’m shocked! shocked!

She is likely to be the victim of institutional decay that’s been going on for a long time, but she is the responsible person.

The President should bring in someone from outside the Service to clean it up.

But you can’t pay attention to the idiots in the peanut gallery.

Yay a head has rolled. Now Congress doesn’t have to keep on having hearings until someone points out that it created the problem by creating DHS.

I hate to sound like a Republican loony talking about the Department of Education, but they just need to dismantle the whole goddamned department, put all the old pieces back where they were and put the new ones into a sub cabinet level agency.

I seem to recall an old Irish American song about how Clancy lowered the boom and I’m wondering if it will happen at the Secret Service.

Right up until someone starts talking about the role of the sequester and the insistence of Congress on creating DHS after 9/11 in this clusterfuck.

9/11–its bitter to contemplate how what few correct things that were done in response to it were bitched all to hell, and the vast majority of the things that were done were just completely wrong from conception to execution.

Well, of course, it’s all about Benghazi.

At the very least, the Secret Service should go back to Treasury.

And if they insist on keeping DHS, it should be renamed the Department of Civil Defense, which has an American ring to it, and doesn’t have the fascist overtones of “homeland.”

When an org becomes so corrupt and inbred, it is not impossible, but it’s very difficult to change things.
More often than not, people have to be fired and replaced or demoted and replaced.
An effective replacement for her will hand-pick his/her own people to begin takin’ names and kickin’ ass. It can’t be done by writing strong memos or holding “motivational” meetings.
When people begin losing jobs or get shipped off to assignments in Siberia, the troops will take notice.

“I am no right wing misogynist” sure…

If a person with any knowledge of history and politics heard that any other country had a “Department of Homeland Security,” their brains would instantly translate it into “Secret Police.” Only in America does one’s brain automatically hear “hodgepodge of ill managed, perpetually turf-battling agencies.”

I did understand where you were going with your comment. I should have prefaced mine to acknowledge that.

But I do know FOR SURE that you are a total asshole.

Her performance was horrible plus she looks exhausted. IMHO this is a key position that requires a details oriented and vigorous individual.
