Discussion: Bipartisan Resolution Will Force Trump To Go On Record On White Nationalists

Love it! Will any in Congress vote no? Hard to see how.

But Trump will sign it, then promptly forget that he did.

Trump: I will be glad to sign it.
KKK/WhiteN/NeoNazis: We know exactly what Trump means when he signs it. We are the victims.
GOP: Its all good now. Lets hope they continue to vote for us. They are our core.

These sorts of shenanigans by Congress only serve to defame and ostracize the good skinheads.

Gardner’s in charge of getting Republicans elected/reelected to the Senate; that he’s breaking with Donnie so frequently is good evidence he’s worried.

It’s not clear to me he has to sign it. I certainly wouldn’t put it past him. What would be the consequences if he didn’t?

Trump doesn’t care about breaking historical norms, traditions, or even our values. And it’s not hard to come up with a mealy-mouthed reason not to sign.

Trump will find a reason to ignore it.

If Steve Bannon gives him the OK he’ll sign it.

Trump: It hardly matters what I sign. I just signed sanctions against Russia and the world knows I dont believe in it.

Normally, such a resolution would not seem needed to encourage denunciation of white supremacists, even from two-faced dog whistlers. But Trump’s reluctance to disavow from white supremacists like Duke makes it necessary to go this route.

Using the Hastert Rule (no, not the one about young boys) Ryan and McConnell will make sure it will NEVER come to the floor for a vote.

Which will be all the proof needed to show that he sides with the White Supremacists.

A major electoral gift to Democrats in advance of the mid-terms.

When everything is done with a wink and a nod, signatures are meaningless. Short of simultaneously converting to Judaism himself and leaving Melania for Omarosa, the Nazis will say “oh look at how clever he’s being, duping over the snowflakes while we know he really supports us”

This is perhaps a good gotcha strategy against members of Congress that rely on the nationalist votes to keep their seats. It’s rather ineffective as a tool to force the hand of Trump. His people don’t care what he says.

T rump will restore relations with the skinheads by taking them bowling.

Exactly. It doesn’t matter whether he signs it or not. His base knows he’s with them, and that sometimes he has to go along with these politically-correct charades.

So it gets him on the record saying something. He’ll just change his mind and lie about it as usual, and his spokespuppets will make excuses. Symbolic resolutions like this change nothing.

Tramp does not like to be told what to do. His toddler-like mentality will manifest in yet another tantrump.

He will claim that he already denounced them and whine that this is just a political ploy by his enemies, i.e. Democrats and the 'pubs he plans to campaign against to get more of “his people” into congress.

Nah, he will just hold another rally for them, and sell them cheap maga stuff.

It sad congress even has to put a president on record to condemn Lost Causer s and Nazis.
Well there is this guy. Though he seems to have had a come to Jesus moment after the slaying of two police officers by a white nationalist.

And they’ll have to drag him kicking and screaming to do it
