Discussion: Bipartisan Group Of Senators Ask NBA To Ditch All Star Game In North Carolina

Speaking as a North Carolinian…

I feel kinda bad for Charlotte. They’re bearing the brunt of a lot of the job losses and this NBA loss…

And let us remember this all got started because Charlotte passed an ordinance that did the exact opposite of HB2.

Hopefully this idiotic law gets repealed soon, but I fear Gov. Dipshit has already irreparably harmed the state for quite some time.

Doesn’t that make him look really obviously desperate.? I hope his opponent calls it what it really is!!

Thanks to all the senators who signed the letter. The more the merrier and more powerful. Senator Kirk, glad to see you. If you happen to keep your seat, can we please see more of this sort of standing up for the right thing to do? Speaking of, where the hell are you, Senator Portman?? – Your son is gay and is directly affected by this hateful crap. Why wasn’t your name on this letter? Sad. Sad that only one Republican (who just happens to be in a very tight race … actually losing, but hey) signed on. You people make me ill.

Sens. Jeff Merkley (D-OR), Pat Leahy (D-VT), Cory Booker, (D-N.J.), Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), Patty Murray (D-WA) and Mark Kirk (R-IL)

I see New Jersey has its period(s).

100% agreed. It’s always important to stand with your allies. That said, sometimes for the greater good, things don’t always go as we would like. People of Charlotte, I salute your inclusiveness – thank you for getting this ball rolling. It is really backfiring on the GOP, as it should.

Or maybe they were busy having manicures and didn’t want to smear the nail polish. Or maybe there was blood coming out of everywhere. No, of course not. They’re menopausal.

Yes. Yes it does.

If the NBA won’t move it, only one or two All Stars refusing to show, would probably convince them to do so.

Who the hell knows why no more than these six signed or what the thinking was that went into sending a message by only these few. It’d be hard to believe that if others were asked they would’ve declined but two who might have would have included the NC senators

“Bipartisan” in this context is comparable to “both sides do it.”

One side only has one. The loneliest number.

Harry Nilsson whom hardly anyone remembers but I’ve always liked wrote One, and Three Dog Night ran away with it.

Nilsson didn’t write the happiest songs. Such angst.

Quibble all you want, chelsea, but the number of Dems isn’t exactly impressive either. If I were you I’d be much more concerned about that.

I’m not worried about dems at all. After all, this kind of backward, bigoted legislation has only been advanced and passed by states controlled by republicans.

Sure, but how hard could it have been to get 40-plus Dem signatures? I do find that concerning. If our own don’t care, how can we expect Reps to?

Sorry, don’t see the issue here.

Let the free market handle it. Seems to work.

Kirk is another GOP phony moderate.

And if people don’t care enough to vote in every election, then this kind of crap is what is going to happen.

Trump brought up the subject of punishment for women. Why shouldn’t North Carolinian conservative men be punished for their actions as well? As far as I’m concerned, they screwed themselves by passing this dumbass bill. Some male needs to abort it…and pay the consequences for their sins.
