Discussion: Bill Clinton: Obama On 'Firm Legal Footing' With Immigration Order

Discussion for article #230383

Yes, but firm legal footing doesn’t matter to a bunch of fanatical Republicans bent on complete annihilation of the President.

A fact which is certainly not lost on this President!

Love me some Bubba hehe

“Obama’s authority to act stems from an immigration law signed in 1986 which permits the executive branch to defer deportations for certain categories of immigrants and temporarily let them work in the United States.”

Anyone got odds on this little tidbit of nontroversy-destroying information never entering the conversation on Faux, CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS or any of the others?

“Bill Clinton: Obama On ‘Firm Legal Footing’ With Immigration Order”

It’s called “CheckMate” Mr President. And the repubs(small R) knew that.

Futher proof:

"WASHINGTON – Last Thursday evening, word spread on Capitol Hill that House Speaker John Boehner was considering suing President Barack Obama over his impending executive action to grant deportation relief for millions of undocumented immigrants. Hours later, conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer appeared on Fox News and floated the idea that an executive action would be “an impeachable offense.” When
Boehner and Krauthammer, arguably the top political and intellectual
leaders of the GOP, suggest lawsuits and impeachment, it comes with more
than a dollop of significance. Across town, however, a far
different type of conversation was taking place among an equally robust
part of the conservative movement. At the Mayflower Hotel, lawyers
gathered for the annual Federalist Society national convention – one of
the highest-profile conservative legal events of the year. The day’s
big draws were the opening speech by Supreme Court Justice Antonin
Scalia and an evening event featuring Justice Samuel Alito. "

I see the MSM won’t be carrying the President address to the nation tonight .???

It’s true, none of the major networks are carrying the President’s speech tonight.

This also hopefully will open peoples eyes to the fact that we are dealing with more than meets the eye,as in this case as far as the networks are concerned they don’t intend for anything to meet your eyes or your ears.

How are they going to do it? They have made a huge fuss…but there is nothing they can really do. The executive orders are legal ( see http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/11/18/federalist-society-obama-immigration_n_6182350.html ). For Crise sake even the Federalist Society agrees…POTUS can do that.

You’d think at some point the American people would want the real deal in D.C. and not a bunch of Stunt Men. Some day maybe …

Thanks…hadn’t seen that yet (and will now have to spank some people in that thread). It’s just more disrespect for him from the MSM. Probably should have expected it. Showing his speech to more people would hamper the nontroversy and they can’t allow that.

In addition to the three major boradcast networks not showing the speech, FoxNews refuses to air it, either.

Apparently, Fox is afraid its viewers would get a rational view of the speech if they’re allowed to see it without the patented “Fox Filter of Mendacity” that makes every story fit the right-wing radical viewpoint that Fox is paid to spew.

The RWNJ’s don’t care about what Clinton (and others who agree with him) may say. They are looking for the biggest bone they can loudly chew on, flog shamelessly, and also attach the I-word to. This topic is as good as any, especially as it comes right after the recent election.

Legal, schmeagal. Any action this President takes will be “lawless”. For those who haven’t been informed, “lawless” is the new “uppity”.

Long live the King!

Well, I guess that’s that then!

I also note with some amusement that Univision will be holding up/pre-empting the Latin Grammy Awards to show the President’s announcement.

Or how the media will report it.

That is because the MSM does not want people to know that there is precedent with executive actions by Bush and Reagan in addition to the 1986 immigration law…all of which would make it a slam dunk for the President Obama. MSM: “Naw, can’t upset our GOP buddies or put them on the defensive! We only do that to the President!”
