Home run.
Boom.
“consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds”
So there you have it folks. BINGO!!!
Boom, boom boom!
Added Clinton: I wonder if Turd Blossom saved the blue suit he wore when he was servicing Dumbya under the Resolute Desk.
PS: I was impeached and my approvals were still 30 points higher than Dumbya’s after identical days in office.
“Hobgoblin of little minds”
Describes Karl Roves of the world very well.
Good for Bill.
But why the blankety blank blank was Ifill even asking him about this?
Karl Rove does, indeed, play the media like a violin.
It’s just starting. There is so much red meat available to throw to democrats, when they actually start campaigning, they have the ammunition to get people a bit worked up. They can easily provide a few big dog one liners a week to swat away the stupid.
You know, I get all cynical about politicians and then eventually, politics in general, and I wonder how I could have supported anyone on either side. But then I remember…I love Bill Clinton! lol
What Ralph Waldo Emerson actually said is: “A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.” Without that modifier you butcher the sentence. It’s like omitting “well-reguated” before “militia.”
Rove talking about what is “fair game” is like Cliven Bundy extolling the virtues of the “rule of law.”
But she did set him up to crack on Rove.
Thank you. I was wondering the same thing. Ifill was doing exactly what the GOP wants the media to do. The GOP raises some far-fetched idea as a question which the media eagerly and promptly runs with. We see it with Gregory and Blitzer time and time again. And of course at the WH press briefings from people like Chuck Todd. And George Stephanopolous famously did the “Where’s your flag pin?” during the presidential debate of 2000 or 2008, precisely after the question was raised in the right-wing world.
Fortunately, in this case Clinton hit it out of the park.
Oh hell yes.
Wish I could give you 30 Likes for that.
My first presidential vote (though I voted for Jerry Brown in the primaries).
Have never regretted my choice for a second.
The flag pins were 2004-era. That was when George W. Bush was the savior of America. The lazy, frat-boy, drunken fuckoff savior, that is.
But it worked!!!
“I gotta give him credit. That embodies the old saying that consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds”
Obama has soaring rhetoric and charisma… but I sure do miss Bill’s wit sometimes.
