Discussion: Biden Stays On His 'Republicans Are Redeemable' Thread — And People Are Pissed

It’s very tiresome and tone deaf from Joe.

I’ll say this, if Joe can reach these trial heat numbers with Trump so can any Dem who beats Joe in the primaries.

Additionally, this is a strong field. They’re not wedded to Joe. He’s going to have to earn it, not sleepwalk like he has been for the past 2 weeks. However, if he does beat this field, then I’ll be very confident that he’ll win the general election easily.

Republicans are not redeemable without a truth and reconciliation process.

WHAT an Asshole… Biden is unredeemable

Peace in our times… another indicator that Uncle Joe is simply a really bad Presidential campaigner and not in my top three preferences.

I’ll only vote for him if he gets the nomination. But that’s literally the only way.

Well why wouldn’t he say that? After all, Republicans were the very model of bipartisan statesmanship every one of the 8 years Biden was VP.

SMH.

Why not just say GOP voters are redeemable if you wanna win their votes? But GOP politicians? WTF?

Yeah, Joe, that worked out so well for the eight years when you were VP. The GOP was just waiting for opporutnities to co-operate with Obama. And I’m sure they will be just as eager to help you achieve your priorities.

ETA: I hate it when i read the comments to make sure i’m not being redundant, then write my comment only to find that in the interim someone beat me to it?

Nothing he is saying is anything a president might not say when seeking support from the opposition party. But that is what is making people angry – he is acting like he is still VP, and failing to acknowledge the pain and suffering the country has gone though. One doesn’t have to tweet anti-Trump invective, but one should acknowledge that Trump is exceptional in his corruption, and also that most Republicans have sold their souls for power.

Biden is a reliably exceptionally self-destructive candidate.

But I’m sure all the wealthy donors will vote for him.

“With Trump gone you’re going to begin to see things change,” he said per HuffPost. “Because these folks know better. They know this isn’t what they’re supposed to be doing.”

Merrick Garland says hi.

At bottom, though Biden has to be right. If we are to avoid a civil war (OK, maybe not with firearms) we do need to find ways to build bridges to and attract people who have voted Republicans. We have to believe (and behave as if we believe) that Republicans can come to recognize what is best for the whole national community or we might as well give up.

Yeah, once a Dems is in charge they will go from letting the president do whatever he wants to saying the president isn’t allowed to do anything.

Joe’s strength is in appealing to the middle. Sadly, Joe will be dead before there’s ever a middle in America, again.

“In a time of turbulence and vicious partisanship, Biden is hoping that branding himself as the aisle-crossing candidate will appeal to those weary from the constant battling.”

Actually there’re other candidates branding themselves as “able to reach across the aisle”“wanna unite the nation”, such as Klobuchar, Booker, O’Rourke and Pete. I don’t recall any of them being criticized for being too cozy with rethugs. There might be something wrong with Biden’s approach.

I love Uncle Joe, but I want a younger woman to be our nominee (and another woman or younger man to be her running mate).

He’s running against Twitler, thinking he’s the problem, not the symptom. The problem is the whole corrupt, smash-and-grab lying, enabling GOP. McConnell is just as responsible for the brokenness of D.C. as is Shitgibbon, perhaps more so.

Deplorable, but redeemable, of course it’s up to them, right?
