YES! An honest women Elizabeth Warren. We could start with VP Warren. Sanders / Warren. 16 years for a Democratic future.
It was an impressive resume. I remember looking at all the Republicans running in 1980 and thinking he was the least objectionable among them (I also really liked his āvoodoo economicsā putdown of Reagan). In fact, the moderate Republican Bush I was (until he got picked by St. Ronnie to run for VP) is absolutely and utterly an extinct creature in 21st century America.
I recall that when Bill Clinton was elected he talked about having a cabinet that ālooked like Americaā, and he appointed several Latinos, several women and at least one African American according to my Googling. I think the idea of diversity and inclusion and acting on it is what sets Democrats apart from Rs and has for a long time.
@ahduff Spoiler alert: Hillary wins. She also doesnāt select Warren, and Warren doesnāt run in 2024 because sheāll be 74 and older even than Sanders.
Edit: Sheāll be 74 and heās now 75, oldest candidate ever.
The only thing remotely in Sanders wheel house might be Sec. of Labor, but that is a stretch.
This is snark, yes?
Iām pretty sure the āhimā and āhisā in mymyās comment refers to Joe Biden.
Fair point. I read mymyās previous comment (which seems aimed at Sanders) and thought it was continuing in that vein. I see now I may have read it incorrectly.
I find slight irony in that Bush I is once again discussed upthread
Yes, on paper Poppy was eminently qualified and he was a moderate R as well. But he simply couldnāt put a coherent sentence together, (āmessage: I careā) a trait passed down to the bros and if you want to make your case you have to be able to spell it out with nouns and verbsā¦
@geofu54 Itās like the young man in Brokeback Mountain said. āI wish I knew how to quit you.ā
LOL⦠I was like āhere itās coming, here itās coming⦠ahhh here it is!ā
Iāve mentioned this before, but I think it bears repeating. When Biden declined to run for president and gave his speech from the Rose Garden, every pundit in DC and NYC claimed he was sending out a warning shot to Clinton when he warned against belittling his and Obamaās accomplishments. Iām more and more convinced that warning shot was aimed at Sanders, not Clinton. But the MSM needs to manufacture as many rifts as possible between the Clintons and others. They didnāt get their horseyrace between Biden and the Clintons, so they needed to make up some kind imaginary fight.
ā¦That noise you may hear is tRudy Giuliani going through his Edgar J Hoover wardrobe in preparation for Clevelandā¦
Iām laughing at Trudy, who in my opinion looked like Dame Edna on a bad day as she cavorted with tRump.
I meant Biden, not Sanders, whose knowledge of foreign affairs leaves much to be desired. But Biden is very knowledgeable. Sorry to have been unclear.
No, it is my fault for making the assumption. But thanks for clarifying what you were saying.
Me too.
And when Joe shared (perhaps out of turn) that Obama offered financial help so Joe and Jill could keep their family ācompoundā ⦠modest by other politico standards ⦠I lost it.
These are two amazingly decent men who bonded and led our country just when we needed strength and integrity most.
Me, too, Joeā¦but a DEMOCRATIC woman!!!
Tee hee ⦠like that will happen.
Please have them both fight the good fight in the Senate. Neither has the breadth of policy experience to be president. Leave them to do what they are good at. (Warren ⦠yes; Berinie ⦠ehh.)
Just finished reading the NYDN interview with Hillary. Here it is.
Nixon wasnāt in your lifetime?
Very interesting discussion of his experience in the first few minutes here:
I love him for his brain too. Heās not the doofus they make him out to be in the press, especially on foreign policy.
Heās also got great heart.
