Discussion: Biden: 'Not Sure' 2020 Presidential Run Is 'The Appropriate Thing For Me To Do'

Thank you for your past service, Mr. Vice-President. But the answer starts with ā€œnā€ and ends with ā€œoā€ .

Just say no, Joe.

A new fresh face for the Democratic party would be great. I honor Biden, but he’s getting too old. As it is, we have a 70 yr old President right now. Yikes!

71 and retired.

Joe could be a great mentor for someone younger and more energetic, someone who could serve two terms. That’s the role he should play.

SoS, maybe. A Presidential run, no, with all due respect.

Much as I really really appreciated and loved Joe Biden as VP (the BEST as far as I am concerned), I agree that he would be better in the ā€œsenior statesmanā€ role. There are a lot of reasons not to run, including, but not limited to, his extremely close relationship with Obama (sadly), his occasional (albeit often loveable) gaffes, and his age.

A good and honorable man. But no, that ship has sailed. Sorry, Joe, love you anyway.

I love me some Uncle Joe, but I agree I don’t think he should run. I do think that if he can help find and encourage others that would be great. Leave them wanting more Joe. that’s how you stay relevant.
As for Kasich, the saner part of the Republican party is down to this? He’d be better off worker for Republican underground to take back their party.

I have no qualms about him running for Senate again, either. I would love Joe back in the Senate.

But a Presidential run would be just painful to watch. And I really don’t want to see him go out that way.

Joe Biden has been a huge asset to the Democratic party, and I love him to pieces. But his window tragically closed in the last election cycle and will not reopen. I hope he does finally come to the conclusion that a 2020 presidential run is definitely not the appropriate thing for him to do.

Nor is it the appropriate thing to do for Clinton (who, to her credit, has already said she will not run), Sanders, or Warren (who disqualified herself, in my opinion, in the Donna Brazile imbroglio). Younger candidates with fresh perspective is what is needed. The dinosaurs of the Democratic party, and Bernie Sanders (who is not even a Democrat) need to fade away.

I support him in whatever he decides to do. He was a great VP. I remember too how he manhandled Ryan in the VP debate and calmed a lotta Dems after the first POTUS debate. His age doesn’t bother me at all. He earned my respect and support bigtime.

This 75 year old lifetime Democrat agrees with you 100%.
Let’s find some new, young faces and good ideas in the party!!! We have a chance if we don’t let the same old forces rule!!!
Let’s move forward!!!

I’d support any Democrat that’s electable. I’m not shoving anyone aside and telling anyone to ā€˜fade away.’ Did we learn nothing from 2016?

Well, I’m sure…totally inappropriate.

I’m sure. It’s not the right thing to do for you, your family or the American people.

I LOVE Joe Biden and have been a fan since college in the 1980s.

Joe is 74 years old today. On January 20, 2021, Joe will be 78. The future of the United States is not in a 78 year old.

The Democratic party has a leadership problem and I’m not sure how this happened but all our national leaders are very old.

Nancy Pelosi is 77
Steny Hoyer is 78
Dick Durbin is 72
Chuck Schumer is the baby at 66.

This is a problem, particularly in the House where Pelosi and Hoyer have failed to nurture younger leaders.

I just hope this time he makes a solid decision and sticks to it rather than his ā€œYes… no… maybe… no… on second thought… nah, my heart wouldn’t be in itā€ nonsense of 2016.

Trust in your son, Joe.

I’m only 8 years behind you, and yup, let’s move FORWARD!

but indicated he’s looking for fresh blood to lead the Democratic Party back to the White House.

The public does seem to like a fresh face. We’ve seen that over and over.
But who?
