Discussion for article #233912
The (real) South shall rise again!
The “Speech” by Bibi was nothing more than a minor re-write of the George W. Bush speech in 2003 demanding war with Iraq.
Same fear-mongering, same “mushroom clouds over New York” imagery, same demand for impossible concessions by “the enemy” or war will happen. Lose-Lose politics.
and on top of that, Israeli TV can’t broadcast it because it may “influence the elections” and he has the GALL to claim it isn’t about politics…
Bibi is a reflection of Dick Cheney in a mirror.
How refreshing - a politician from the Democratic wing of the Democratic Party.
Bibi is a reflection of Dick Cheney in a mirror.
Impossible - neither is capable of producing a reflection in a mirror!
He’s gulled the Israeli voters, hopefully one time too many.
Doesn’t help that truly stupid people like Rubio are claiming Iran is on ISIS’s side, does it?
Oh, and by the way, just what does Bibi know about negotiating? Has he ever had a successful negotiation on anything in his many terms in office?
Or does he think blustering like a CEO or a Bain takeover specialist does the trick with international affairs as well as it does with his duped voters?
Bibi “Wins the Morning,” then loses it by mid-afternoon.
Their only answer to any situation or problem is to KILL. I guess when you only have a hammer. . .
Well, to be fair, he was shoveling the same crap as W in 2002-03, only as a private citizen. A private citizen invited by the GOP Congress, in fact, who testified that Saddam was this close to getting nuclear weapons, and that taking him out would unleash a glorious new era of peace in the Middle East. Same shit, different decade.
The Iranian/Israeli/Palestinian issue is one which would benefit the world with honest analysis and communication. Mr. Netanyahu is on the wrong side of history. Fear mongering should be countered by noting the lies and unspecified claims of Israeli’s uncompromising far right. Let’s hope those who are paid to analyze do a stellar job. Truth be known, Netanyahu is not only an opponent of the peace process, he is his own worst enemy. We should hold him accountable.
In all the commentary on this speech, I am saddened to see no one pointing out the hypocrisy of Netanyahu’s government. We all know that Israel has possessed nuclear weapons for many years; why is it that they can be trusted but not the Iranians? I am no fan of the regime in Tehran, and will never forgive them for invading our embassy in 1979, but at the same time, it’s ridiculous to deny them nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. Naturally, “Dick” Netanyahu feels otherwise. Many, many thanks to John Boehner, whose attempt to embarrass the President has blown up in his orange face. Heckuva job, Boehnie!
Amen, rawr; let’s see how the “MSM” cover it.
Right. Shades of Condi Rice’s “We don’t want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud” speech.
My congressman, John Yarmuth, rocks! Just chatted with him a few weeks back at a charity event, just love that man! How amazing it is to say one loves their congressman. And since we have the worst of the worst Senators it is especially satisfying.
Look.
For me, this is Boehner’s show. He would invite Putin to Congress if he thought the TeaBagg Agenda would “benefit” (nothing they do really benefits ANYONE). Bibi’s a prop, to Boehner.
If John Boehner wants the Dick Cheney Playbook, he’s only half-carried it out. Next is combat and boots on the ground.
What if…what if Mr. Boehner’s little stunt led directly to this?
There are not enough Andrea Mitchell-type “false equivalent-meisters” in the Fourth Estate to protect Boehner. Particularly if this particular combat comes so soon after the last GOP-induced combat.
Bibi’s speech to Congress, uninvited by the President, is a slap at the American people. His disrespect for the President is an insult to the American people.
We need to rethink our Israel position.
CNN seems to be doing their normal equivocating. Warhawk Diane Feinstein gave them a quote basically saying that Bibi is right in that a 10 year deal is too short. I wish she would retire already.
…And vote in a non Tea Party congress.
Sadly, Yarmuth speaks the truth. Bibi’s only answer is to war, when, in fact, killing with never solve the problems he and the world face. A speech filled with lies, exaggerations, and bigotry…with pages taken directly from the Holocaust playbook, the only difference being which side is wearing the star. In short, this is an overt attempt at the tail wagging the dog, and today the tail simply pointed out that it’s attached to the dog by right by the asshole.
Putin of course, or as Guiliani would call him: “A real leader who gives an order or surrounds himself with the kind of people adept at reading Putin’s mind that demands they kill political opponents who need killing. Now that’s a leader.”
