Discussion for article #234216
âdismissed the issue as a media phenomenon that few regular Americans care about.â
Bingo. This is a grand beltway MSM circle jerk and nothing more.
Only repubs looking to attack care about anyoneâs emails. If this is such an issue, why was it ok for Jeb Bush, Booby Jindal, Scott Walker and many other repubs to do the very same thing? Hypocrites.
Heâs right.
The ENTIRE 'W" administration DID NOT use government email. THAT is the MAIN reason Obama signed into law the change in law, AFTER, Hillary ad left. NOT before,
ââŚnot one of the great issues I faceâŚâ
The conservative silence is deafening. Congressional illegality must be rampant.
How unsurprising of Bernie to say things dealing with helping those who need it.
Yep. The only people who give a fuck about this non-treversy are media heathers and the GOP fucksticks who lead the media heathers around by the noise.
So TPM is devoting so many pixels to this why?
Leave aside that Dubyaâs political staff under Karl Rove went to extraordinary lengths to deliberately consciously destroy FOUR YEARS worth of official WH emails that were already within the system. Also in this group of leave asides: Jebyaâs pre-planned destruction and controlled release of his gubernatorial emails, Mitt Romneyâs pre-planned GLEEFULLY DECLARED destruction of all his gubernatorial emails, Kochie Walkerâs manipulation and selective destruction. of not just his gubernatorial emails but emails of his appointeesâ emails thru his entire administration â and on and on. Leave all that aside.
What would the system - not the one in place since 2012, but the one that WAS in place from during HRCs time as SoS - what would THAT system have done with HRCs email trail had she gone entirely thru State Dept. servers?
As âcreatorâ of those emails, HRC would be entitled to go thru them, or have her own staff do it for her or with her, to REMOVE from department control those emails which she, or her staff on her behalf, were to deem âprivateâ.
And they WOULD have been removed. Not the metadata, but all the content. So, the ONLY <â SOLE difference between what HRC did with her email traffic as SoS and what âwould have been betterâ in complying with the then-unenforceable email relay and supposed âpreservationâ system would be this: in the former, leave aside content, all the metadata would be in the server, which still exists, presumably entact,. and in the latter, State would have the metadata in its server â but not the content.
IOW this is BOTH a huge f**king nothingburger of a phony scanday AND
now add in that the establishment media is applying a total double standard.
Go Bernie. Run Bernie run. Bernie 2016.
A simple experiment for any of the inside-the-Beltway types who think anyone cares: Take a trip back to the town you were raised in (unless you were raised in the DC area, in which case close your eyes in front of a map of the US and stick a pin in randomly). Find a bar. Go in, order a beer and ask the person next to you whether Hillary should have used a .gov or .clinton email. Get a blank look. Then ask who will win the NCAA tourney. Proceed to have a conversation.
As well as Democratic Politicians with Stockholm Syndrome and the Stenographers at Versailles on the Potomac.
Bernie, the only one with a brain. Capitol Hill needs more Bernieâs!
I thought that Hillaryâs problem was Ben Ghazi and the fact that the Repubs cut funding for embassy security so they have to lie and blame her?
Hillaryâs problem, if it even is, is that she will be the second Clinton to be President, not much of a dynasty.
The truly bitchinâ thing will be that she, as a Democrat, will be the first woman President and her ex-President husband will be the first ex-President, first male, first dude. Democrats break the mold once again.
The most powerful man in the world title is going to need a revamp. The most powerful person in the world, that happens to be a woman and from the US no less, sounds about right.
I donât really care about it myself but the framing is that it is an example of an elite trying to avoid proper oversight. A few think Clintonâs people are handling this wrong as a matter of media relations etc. This might not be true on the merits or she might be being singling out for something others (including in her own position) does, but talking about people caring about economic problems etc. doesnât quite get to the issue at hand. The people who support Bernie also are upset about the powers of elites etc.
Thanks Bernie for keeping the focus on the real issues, not the fake scandal of the day.
And that framing is bullshit of course. All four previous Secretaries of State did the same thing (using a private email account) and Clinton is the only one to have fully complied with the records request from the State Department for past records. The other four have yet to do so though they have had the same exact request.
Yes itâs b.s. but Sanders responds that he cares about economic concerns etc. as if emails donât count. But, the alleged substance here is elitist power & thatâs something he speaks against too. And, the fact all PTB do it also doesnât quite save the day â he is against various things like that which are generally accepted & those people arenât running for President. So, his response is somewhat unsatisfactory.
Except there is nothing elitist at all in even the alleged âsubstanceâ non-scandal email issue. None. Zero, nadda.
The concern is that a powerful player is trying to prevent oversight and this will lead to abuse. If she actually was shown to be doing that here, it would address a concern of his. So, it rests on pointing out that on the merits, nothing is being done wrong. âEveryone does itâ alone doesnât help that since he is against various things âallâ elites do.
