Discussion: Bernie And Warren Made A Secret Agreement Not To Attack Each Other

According to several senior Democrats who spoke to New York Magazine, Warren and Sanders made a secret pact months ago to not attack one another on the campaign trail.

Good, if true.

But, according to New York Magazine’s reporting, that treaty may be starting to fray.

Unsurprising, if true.

So much for secrets.

Feels like this issue is getting tangled up in the fact that Biden is trying to pump up Warren in order to weaken Bernie. So if the Sanders campaign responds to that action, it’s…an attack on Warren? These are the things that happen in a multi-candidate (>2) race.
I don’t see either candidate making personal attacks on the other candidate. I wouldn’t demand more than that. Ultimately this is a competition for an important “prize”, and the notion that the candidates shouldn’t actually compete strikes me as bizarre.

I’m sure you have dozens of examples of Bernie not “keeping his word”.

Anybody who did not see this coming from the Bernie camp once his poll numbers started to fall drastically (because of the surging Warren candidacy) has not been paying attention for the last 4 years.

Bernie is for Bernie. 100% of the time. Full Stop. and he and his will attack anyone who gets in his way.

Thus the recent “Whisper Campaign” attacks upon Warren calling her a “Corporate Shill” and “In the Pocket of the Big Banks” which are of course ludicrous.

One more nail in the coffin of the “Bernie the Savior” movement.

I don’t feed the trolls.

As the progressive electorate becomes increasingly aware that Senator Warren is far superior to B.S. in intellect and the ability to articulate policy on a wide variety of issues, the inner bro of the campaign will be unleashed on her and any “secret agreement to play nice” will become a distant memory. They just can’t help themselves.

Seems like this should be a secret agreement between ALL the Dem candidates, IMHO…

Focus on the hellhole Donnie has created.

It’s not just the progressive electorate but the “establishment” who’s warming up to Warren, hence the “corporate conspiracy” bs from his camp.

Meanwhile, from the article highlighted by TPM:

“I think that there are certain number of people who would like to see a woman elected, and I understand that,” Sanders said on CNN when asked about Warren on Wednesday, before praising her. “There are people who would like to see somebody who was younger, and I understand that also. There are a lot of factors out there.”

It’s always about “identity” when Sanders talks about why other people (specifically Hillary and Warren and interestingly, both female) get ahead of him. Why can’t it be about her ideology or policies or campaign skills?

NEVER make an agreement with an opponent that depends on the opponent’s perceptions.

Are you suggesting that he has said nothing about Warren’s (or other people’s) policies or proposals?

I think less of her for (1) making a deal like this with the likes of Bernie Sanders and (2) trusting the likes of Bernie Sanders to keep such a deal.

Unfortunately, politics being what it is, and politicians being who they are (BIG egos), agreements like this always tend to dissolve. But still, Democrats should try to agree on some rules that will keep the nominating contest in civil bounds and make it easy for all of them to back the nominee, wholeheartedly.

You’re the one trolling. By any traditional definition of the word.

“Disagrees with me” isn’t trolling.
“Makes baseless attacks” is.

Nah, just replying to your quote. Why was he so obsessed with Warren’s “identity” ? (and it reminds me of his similar comment about Hillary)
