He was sorry until he got fired. Which means he wasn’t sorry in the first place.
BBC journalist shocked to find out people read what he writes.
That does not seem to be true. Quite a few people are coming out condemning him. Do you have any support for your contention that this is seen as a kneejerk reaction? As others have pointed out he has not been doing this for years, because he did not do it for any other royal babies. If you want to make your stand defending a racist, that is your choice. Seems to be a terrible place to make your stand though.
They’re everywhere.
The MAGA virus knows no international boundaries.
That’s actually the good part about the name! I can’t stop doing my Edith Bunker impression every time I hear the name on teevee.
No one who watched that wedding could be unaware of it. Perhaps they wondered why a black minister (Michael Curry) gave a sermon, a black gospel choir sang, and a black cellist (Sheku Kanneh-Mason, who was brilliant by the way) performed. Anyone who didn’t get it was completely tone deaf. The fact that the royal family, from the top down, turned out to welcome a divorced bi-racial American into its ranks was as strong a statement of acceptance of diversity as was possible.
“Danny, I can’t tell you how excited we are to be having you join the Fox News family. But there’s still the matter of this non-compete clause in your contract with the BBC. How are we going to get around that?”
“Don’t worry, I’ve got an idea.”
Interesting. I’d seen him on Q.I., and I always thought he was a comedian, not a journalist.
I recently finished a huge bio of Churchill. It discusses bigotry and especially anti-Semitism among the British ruling classes. They just could not get upset over Hitler’s views of the Jews. indeed, some of them admired him, wanted conciliation. If there was any offset, it was in their incorporating Jews into the British military, intelligence and spy networks. Hitler, of course, did not and to his detriment.
William and Kate have three children. It was in all the news.
Except the ones who aren’t.
Not in donnie bonespurs America
Tough luck, Danny, but I’m sure there’s a job at Breitbart waiting for you.
After all, how else can one tell it’s sincere?
Ain’t that the truth.
#NotAll stipulated… with that stipulation –
One of my local public radio affiliates (KQED-FM San Francisco) hosts a regular 2-hour call-in show called Forum, host usually Michael Krasny. First hour this morning was on language learning, becoming bilingual/multilingual etc.
During that discussion a Pew Research poll was invoked that found that 40% of white Republicans would be “bothered some or a lot when they heard a foreign language spoken in public”, as opposed to only 18% of white Democrats. Guest Marek Kohn, British-born but a native speaker of Polish, mentioned that things were little different in the UK. “We have incident after incident of language vigilantes turning round to people and saying ‘We speak English in this country’, and sometimes doing more than telling them off in a passive aggressive way but sometimes actually attacking them …”
Short review of his book here, together with some speculation as to whether British reluctance to learn languages other than English contributed to the Brexit clusterfuck.
Well no not all, but some like my wife aren’t hatefully racist, but still have a lot of assumptions on how black folks are going to be. Some that are probably right a lot of the time, but that to me are more cultural things and not biological. Prime example is that say they invite you to a party that starts at 8pm people won’t start showing up till an hour or so later. Like the White politician married to a black woman that mentioned “black” time.
