Danny Baker fired by BBC over āoffensiveā royal baby ape tweet | Danny Baker | The Guardian
Following allegations of racism over the tweet, Baker deleted the post on Wednesday. āSorry my gag pic of the little fella in the posh outfit has whipped some up. Never occurred to me because, well, mind not diseased,ā he said.
āSoon as those good enough to point out itās possible connotations got in touch, down it came. And thatās it.ā
Baker, 61, repeated his apology on Wednesday evening, saying the post was intended to poke fun at the royal family.
āOnce again. Sincere apologies for the stupid unthinking gag pic earlier. Was supposed to be joke about royals vs circus animals in posh clothes but interpreted as about monkeys & race, so rightly deleted,ā he said on Twitter. āRoyal watching not my forte. Also, guessing it was my turn in the barrel.ā
Stupidity and lack of remorse have consequences.
A common idiot would know that was dumb.
Iām sorry, Dork, but no one would possibly even consider posting something like that without racist intentions. That you donāt seem to recognize your own depravity and somehow think that you are the victim only adds urgency to your banishment from public life.
Hope everyone can be held accountable for their NOT FUNNY ājokesā.
If you act like a racist you are probably a racist. If in fact he did not perceive a racial aspect he is an incompetent reporter and has no business being in the news business
Ought to send him a 23andMe gift certificate. Most likely has Trump genes in his past.
Ha ha! What a card! Itās the exact same satirical photo poking fun at the royal family that he posted when William and Kateās two children were born.
Waitā¦ what? He didnāt post a chimpanzee picture in honor of those births? Well, Iām sure it just slipped his mind then. Or maybe his mind was just ādiseasedā at that time.
His original tweet got him fired. Hopefully his follow-up tweet to his āapologyā tweet makes sure that he doesnāt get hired as a journalist ever again.
ā¦and the BBC must uphold blah blah blahā¦
Well, Iām glad to see that heās apologetic
and that he has learned things and benefited from the incident.
Nice to see that crass bigots are not limited to this side of the pond.
āThe BBC threw me under the bus!ā screamed the pavement.
Trump: I couldnāt get Bill Maher fired for comparing me to an orangutan! Why?! White people are discriminated against!
Such an idiot that in his victim tweeting to a) cover his ass and b) claim victim hood, he again drops his pants (figuratively) to show what a real ass he is.
I donāt know about you, but always follow up a āsincere apologyā with an insult.
White folks are some racist mofoās regardless of which side of the pond weāre on!
This, to me, is the most interesting and absurd defense racists pull out. āI am so enlightened and beyond thinking of race that youāre the racist for noticing my use of an established racist trope, you racist.ā
So one day, there will be a utopian future in which we can all be racists without being racists. Yay!
Piers Morgan lookalike looks like Piers Morgan in more ways than one.
Well then there was this:
Hoschton City Councilman Jim Cleveland added his racist views to the chorus.
āI donāt know how they would take it if we selected a black administrator. She might have been right,ā he said.
He added some background on his philosophy.
āIām a Christian and my Christian beliefs are you donāt do interracial marriage. Thatās the way I was brought up and thatās the way I believe,ā he said. āI have black friends, I hired black people. But when it comes to all this stuff you see on TV, when you see blacks and whites together, it makes my blood boil because thatās just not the way a Christian is supposed to live.ā
