Discussion: Barr Slams Mueller Over And Over During Senate Testimony

Barr is a skilled and careful lawyer.

It wasn’t perjury—but it was utterly dishonest.

It has been both remarkable and pathetic to see Barr squander his integrity and reputation so readily. The idea that anyone would be willing to pay such a high price to protect the likes of Donald Trump is astonishing, and quite disgusting.

Barr had no integrity to squander—and his reputation was only good with other wingnuts.

They will continue to get along just fine. Mueller is not going to testify in the Senate, and if he ever does in the House, he will go easy on his old friend.

Heard that as well but even so, what or who is preventing him from testifying even if he is still working for DOJ? Is there a reason for not letting him testify? Is it that DOJ and AG Barr are obstructing or disallowing Mueller from testifying and more importantly, why? Certain selected members of these committees have to get LOUD and OBNOXIOUS. Unfortunately I’m not a member so that leaves me out.

I bet they let him testify but put a legal muzzle on his ability to answer certain questions. And I also heard his employment with DOJ is about to end ‘soon’ - maybe this week. So then, as a private citizen, could he even testify and what would he be allowed to testify to?

I watched a bit of Chuckster and Co. (sorry about the hairline Chuck) before and I swear if you put out some tea and biscuits you would believe nothing important was going on. And last night of CNN David Gregory was trying to make a case for defending Barr. Just gamesmanship I know, whatever.

But yea, Dems are making progress.

The Senate will tear Mueller a new asshole because he dared to criticize Barr. Guess you haven’t heard of the daming letter and phone conversation he had with Barr in the aftermath of the release of the four pages.

We have to stop using the criminal justice process as a political weapon

Bill Barr, Defender of Democracy, is very concerned that the mechanism of justice be used for good even as he uses it for craven fuckery.

This was hard to take today. Reminded me of the Barf O’Kavanaugh hearing in that every GOPer involved, including The “Hon.” Bill Barr (man, was that nameplate he was sitting behind galling, or what?), operated in complete bad faith.

It seems to me extraordinarily unwise for Barr to be, essentially, daring Mueller to testify. The opportunity is likely to arise, and now Barr has given Mueller a clear reason to come out of hiding.

Read about his ugly history of partisan hackery, covering up and enabling GOP crimes, including Iran/Contra, so that criminals could walk free.

Nothing new now, he’s a corrupt toady through and through – and that’s why Trump hired him and the equally corrupt GOP toadies in the Senate forced his confirmation over Dem objections that he was not fit to serve.

I really cannot get over how the entire republican party is perfectly fine with treason. The repug president collaborated with an enemy country to win the election, has been following that country’s directions ever since, and made multiple efforts to cover up his treason. But the republicans think that is acceptable behavior.

The GOP is in the driver’s seat now, but won’t be forever. Have they thought at all about what will happen when Trump is thrown in jail, or at least out on his ass? Hopefully they will all be tried for their crimes against the USA.

I’d have thought it would have been hard to out-do John Mitchell on that score, but Barr makes Mitchell look like a Boy Scout.

Crook hires crooked lawyer. That about sums it up for me. Barr wrote an application essay that basically said, "I will love and protect your sorry ass and make sure that no honest inquiry will take place while you are in office. Tierney Sneed made the comment that at his confirmation hearing he acted like his reputation as an accomplished man was already set. Well he just dumped it in the toilet and climbed in himself. 'Just another swamp dweller debasing himself in hopes of pleasing the Rump. Remember that Rump’s favorite lawyer was Roy Cohn. Barr is truly in a race to the bottom.

Miss Lindsay already said that it was enough. Mueller will not be called to the senate. And the DOJ already said that they will not make Mueller available for the House. So Mueller’s skin is safe for now.
