Discussion: Barr Letter Leaves GOPers With Room To Spin And Spread Conspiracy Theories

Only one small quibble: " …as the Justice Department plods through the report to redact and remove confidential information."

I think we can rest assured Barr is flying through the report like a drunken toddler with a black marker. It takes a lot of ink to remove everything except “no,” “collusion,” “greatest,” “president,” and “ever.”

“Barr’s letter is allowing Trumpworld to claim frothy-mouthed vindication…”

I think the term you’re looking for is “Santorum”.

I have felt so ever since Merrick Garland. But one thing that is now crystal clear is that McConnell does not like black men.

What Mueller report? Nobody has seen this report we’re opining on.

Weren’t they going to do that regardless of what the report said? And how’s this all going to work out when SDNY and various other law enforcement agencies hand down indictments? The GOP really does operate in a world of no tomorrows. Everything is about getting through the day without ever considering how fucked up and stupid they’re going to look tomorrow.

The Barr letter is a complete whitewash. Why should anyone trust him to redact the full Mueller report?

“We will agree to see the Mueller report as long as the other side will agree to show us the communications that took place in deciding to promote this fake allegation against the President and whether there was misuse of their office,” Paul said on the Senate floor. “We based this investigation on a lie, we should investigate who the liars were.”

"He went so far as to question whether former President Obama was involved, telling his senate colleagues, “We need to know was there malfeasance, was there misuse of power, did President Obama’s administration get involved in an election to infiltrate the Trump campaign to trap them?” before going on to declare: “What we need to discover and we do not yet know: Was President Obama involved?”

Stand back, it’s my turn to tackle him now. Say your prayers, Rand’s ribs…

The press should be all over Mueller, camped outside his door, barraging him with questions about the report like they did with Ken Star. Why is he still sacrosanct, and all we can do is guess about his motives and what he said? There’s no reason it has to be congress asking the question, He may not answer but still the questions should be front and center. This is starting to be like every other Republican propaganda coup of the last 20 years – Bush v. Gore, Swiftboating, the emails. While they go low we don’t even go high, we do nothing. Time to stop the civility and get some answers!!

With spin like this they are crazy or guilty, most likely both.

I keep falling back on the little girl’s comment when Ripley tells her the marines are here and everything will be OK now (Alien 2). “It won’t matter.”
While today’s GOP is upright and walking around nothing will matter.

I wonder what Muller thinks of the storm of liquid shit Republicans are now dumping on the country as a result of his report – a storm that was utterly predictable by Muller. After all, he knew what was in his report, knew Barr’s character and that Barr was chosen as the hand-picked AG so as to protect the President, therefore would have intuited how Barr would handle his report, and would have known how Republicans and their heinous media machine, as well as chumps like the NYT analysts and editors, would respond. How does he feel that his work has been used to further undermine democracy in the USA? Is he comfortable that SDNY will ultimately come to the rescue?
