Discussion: Bannon: Trump's DACA Decision Could Cost Republicans The House

There should be no amnesty for those guilty of treason with Trump’s pardon pending.

if we have another huge — if this goes all the way down to its logical conclusion, in February and March it will be a civil war inside the Republican party that will be every bit as vitriolic as 2013. And to me, doing that in the springboard of primary season for 2018 is extremely unwise,” Bannon said on CBS’ “60 Minutes.”

On the other hand, it was a chance for a trifecta of Trumpism: sticking it to Congress, being cruel to the powerless, and creating a headline that had nothing to do with Russia.

It’s very, very hard for me to hope that Steve Brownshirt is right, but this time I must.

My exact thought too.

For the only time since this vile excuse of a person wafted into my consciousness, I sure as hell hope he’s right.

It’s an easy call to say the big grabber makes bad decisions, so no points there Herr Bannon. Bannon no doubt longs for the good old days when the whole R congress was efficiently controlled by primary election threats. If GOP members start voting in the interests of their constituents, the power of the Party to serve corporate masters diminishes. The bad news is the zombie Republican Party climbs out of its grave again.

Back in the day, Edward R. Murrow didn’t sit down with Joe McCarthy and interview him in a comfy setting. Murrow spent all of his time and energy exposing McCarthy for the hateful demagogue he was. Times have changed.

Yes Stevie DACA is very good reason that may effect the make up of the House in 2018, but Stevie you’re leaving out so much:

the willingness of 90 Republicans in the House to vote no on Harvey Aid

the unwillingness of House Republicans to hold townhall meetings-oldie but a long simmering goodie

the division of the House into meanies, crazies, and coots

the realization that Paulie is sooo willing and able to throw grandmas and grandpas out into the cold mean streets

the dawning understanding that the GOP doesn’t know how to govern

the waking up to the fact that there are quite a few Republican House members that are willing to subvert our long hard fought freedoms for a guy who either knowingly or was too dumb to see he was being used by a foreign government for their purposes

Did I miss any?

“I’m worried about losing the House…And my fear is that with this six months down range… in February and March it will be a civil war inside the Republican party that will be every bit as vitriolic as 2013."

This is rich, considering that Bannon stoking that civil war himself, using Mercer’s money to plot primary challenges to a number of Republicans who he thinks are insufficiently racist.

That says it all.

Why do we have to be up-dated when Bannon says the obvious. Please let him fade away to his fake news machine at Breitbart.

Bannon’s prediction seems to be based on the idea that Trump voters are going to be so upset at Congress debating DACA that they will stay home. This is drivel. The Republican Congress will continue to do what they do best - nothing. The same right wing fanatics will continue to reliably show up for primary elections to nominate more extremists.

If Republicans get thumped in the midterm elections, it will be because the Democrats got off their butts and actually voted.

“There’s no path to citizenship, no path to a green card, and no amnesty. Amnesty is non-negotiable,” he said on CBS.

An absolutist without power is like an autocrat without any credible leadership skills. How many are still buying his drivel? Besides, who the fuck stepped down and made him King I wonder. If not for the Mercers, this punk would be sitting in his bathrobe 24/7 cracking flip tabs on one beer after another, imagining what could have been. Eventually though, it’ll most likely come to that with him.

Bannon has a dogmatic view of the world even he doesn’t understand. The only thing he knows for sure is the “burn it all down” mentality that seems to guide his very uninformed and feeble thought process. Not only is he a lazy thinker, he’s a sick cookie, and he still lusts to be the power behind the imaginary tRump throne. Its like fucking make-believe, like children fantasizing way too much to get away from their own bad memories of an abused childhood. Karl Rove had a lot of that in him too as I remember. Came from some seriously dysfunctional familial crap.

… if this goes all the way down to its logical conclusion, in February and March it will be a civil war inside the Republican Party that will be every bit as vitriolic as 2013.

This guy lives for the taste of vitriol. I think its the main ingredient in his booze. A drunk like him fetishizes the cult of personality he wraps around tRump, insuring that 30% base he and tRump have affixed themselves to never strays too far afield without their daily dose of hate. After all, he needs a way to motivate those losers come the mid-term election when tRump won’t be on the ballot. I assume this is one way he’ll try to do that. If Dems were smart they’d start exposing that common denominator of hate and bigotry, early and often, to bring constant attention to the deplorable nature Republicans are still stuck defending in almost every way that counts.

Btw, does this fascist freak ever wash his hair?

It’s not a prediction. It’s a rallying call to his readership to replace the GOP establishment with alt-right leaders. They see the GOP establishment as their primary enemy.

They don’t fear dems because they figure dems will destroy themselves, and if we destroy the country with socialism and debt, as they expect, that’s good too because it will hasten the revolution.

It’s really only the establishment GOP who are standing between them and the revolution.

I think you nailed it, it’s all play acting for these people. They think they’re the Mob and they don’t understand why the rest of us aren’t playing along. And no, I don’t think he bathes, period. Nasty.

“I’m worried about losing the House now because of this — of — because of DACA…"

I wouldn’t watch this interview, so maybe I’m missing something obvious: WHY does throwing DACA to Congress threaten the house? Is it because it puts Reps on the record?

As much noise as people are making about this I suspect many voters in the privacy of the voting booth would vote against DACA, so I wonder if this ends up a wash?

Without a path to citizenship DACA basically just prevents deportation, no? Incredibly important to Dreamers, tax money with no payouts for Treasury, but ultimately a hollow benefit for individuals. Can DACA individuals even vote?

But for Comey II & III, HRC would’ve beaten Trump by the same or larger margin than Obama beat Romney. Bannon would’ve been adudged a low rent racist and a failure. He’s out of the WH in less than 8 months. He and GOP white nationalism are a far weaker force in US politics than we’ve been led to believe.
