I thought for sure Bannon would survive this whole kerfuffle better than anyone else involved. Looks like I was wrong about that, and I’m happy to be. Not that I think Bannon was going to wind up some kind of kingmaker, but he does have the kind of insight into the Republican base that helped get PP elected. Without him I’m not sure PP has any idea how to appeal to the base beyond hate. Maybe hate is all they need, but I tend to think there’s 3-5% still with PP because they think he might fulfill some of his economic promises. But they’re also idiots…
We don’t need the Mercers and Breitbart any more than we need Bannon or Trump in any position of power. I am thinking that Bannon is the shrewdest of them all and will be back.
