Discussion: AZ Gov Bans 'Sale' Of Fetal Tissue After Planned Parenthood Sting Video

Discussion for article #238590

"I am calling on the Department of Health Services to conduct a thorough review of the law and immediately promulgate emergency rules designed to prohibit the illegal sale of any tissue from an unborn child.”

This reminds me of an employer policy banning the use of illegal drugs in the workplace because they’re, ya’ know, illegal.

An unborn child? A nascent adult? A gestating teenager? When did it become so freaking PC you can’t call them a fetus? Conservatives and their overbearing notions of political correctness. Geesh!

I always thought such policies were rather strange. Why should an employer explicitly mention some illegal things, but not others?

I don’t think it’s PC run amok… it’s more like just another example of ‘I’m not a scientist’ or ‘I’m not a doctor’ bullshit… taking ‘moral’ direction from a work of fiction called the Bible…

This is not enough. I will not rest until Nucatola is burned at the stake!

Dear Planned Parenthood:

A couple of points. First you didn’t do anything illegal. Second, it doesn’t matter. We live in a world of perception and anyone watching that video will believe, rightly or wrongly, that you are the moral equivalent of Dr. Mengele.

So, a couple of suggestions.

  1. Fight. Don’t run. Say why this tissue helps people, and why its important. Argue that this is a smear campaign, show parts of the unedited footage, DO something.

  2. Never, Never, Never, Never, Never, Never, Never talk to ANYBODY you haven’t vetted.

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey ® ordered a ban on the “sale” of fetal tissue from abortions Monday

Too bad. If anyone could use some stem-cell therapy for what appears to be a severe case of cerebellar hypoplasia, it would be my idiot, former ice-cream-man, governor.

Another “small government” azzwipe banning something ALREADY against the law.
Next he will be putting his BIL on the payroll at some inflated salary to make sure the law is followed.

Yeah why should those evil scientists wanna do research on fetal tissue anyway? Whay use could their possibly be? Stem cells. Who needs 'em? And this ban won’t affect anyone’s health down the road ya know. (snark)

Geesh!

Edit:
Ya know, I thought the GOP was all against government intrusion with lots of rules 'n regulations. I musta missed something.

There is little doubt that the Gov ever watched the video aside from the snippets edited to tell a story shown on Fox News. Or simply what his staff told him to say. Not that a reporter would bother to ask him of course.

I second that emotion.
Sometimes I am embarrassed by my state’s government.
A former gov. Jack Williams (who had one eye) said at my college commencement when I graduated “In the land of the blind the one eyed man is king”. The response was hushed wondering among the listeners as they looked at each other.

So, they banned something that is already illegal and was not being done at Planned Parenthood.
Typical Chest-Beating/Clothes-Rending by the DERP BRIGADE for the benefit of the knuckle-draggers and Bible-Thumpers that make up the BASE of their Party.
Stupid is as Stupid does.

Since the Republicans have pretty much banned all abortions, there isn’t any fetal material to sell or even throw away. And since there isn’t, you can bet that there will be next to no medical research done in Arizona ever again.

Expect Big Pharma, medical schools and bio tech companies to exist the state. There will be no new medical centers built there unless the governor promises the corpses of all seniors who die in the state to them. Talk about encouraging death panels. The GOP can’t do anything right.

What about the sale of blood or plasma by adults? That is icky, too!

Gettin’ whiplash from all the pathetic GOP flailing. Theocrats in the middle east aren’t as knee jerk and arbitrary as US conservative pols these days…

Women often want the fetal tissue from their abortions donated for medical or scientific purposes. Recovering the costs for management and transportation of that tissue isn’t ‘selling,’ it. I actually wondered if PP doesn’t have a fiduciary responsibility to recover those costs.

“AZ Gov Bans ‘Sale’ Of Fetal Tissue.”

I, for one, applaud the brave governor.

Allow me to use this opportunity to encourage him in his courageous campaign of calling for the criminalization of acts that are already illegal, and which are not being committed. Anywhere. By anyone.

As you well know, valiant Il Duce, piracy is already illegal and non-existent in Arizona. What more logical next step for a bold demagogue like you than denouncing it?

And what about animal voting? Each year, millions of American animals do not vote – and they’re prohibited from it, too!

Or manufacturers who unashamedly don’t remove tags from mattresses, coupled with the fact that it’s already illegal for them to do so!

America is hungry for a fearless sociopath who can lead us against never-committed, yet already-illegal acts. You are that man! Your time has come. You have been called to greatness.

And may the Grift be with you.

This guy succeeded Jan Brewer? Further proof the GOP doesn’t have a bench; it has a well.

Why is it that everyone named Ducey turns out to be a douchebag?

Which only addresses abortion when it describes a concoction designed to produce one.
