Because this is what racists do. By racists, I mean Republicans. All of them.
Itâs a solution in search of a problem, thatâs why hehe
What is airspeed of an unladen swallow?
I always say âDemocratâ loud enough for everyone to hear with the inflection giving the impression that I thought it was a stupid question.
Yeah, I believe they were trained on the correct procedure, just like I believe pigs can fly.
Look, Republicans know that only stupid white people, and rich white people vote for them, so why spend money on fellow citizens who happen to generally vote Democratic? When did a Republican ever give a fig about a hungry or sick black kid?
And that is exactly the worst problem with this nit-picky (âI had to say âPlaceâ in addition to the street nameâ) quizzing â it slows the line down. That probably doesnât matter too much in a mid-term primary election. Itâs going to matter a lot more in a general election, and in a presidential year, it is guaranteed to cause lines that are hours long. And yes, I agree, I think that is a deliberate part of the strategy.
Iâm a big fan of Vaughn Williams and Holst, too, and all the rest of that generation of English composers.
There shouldnât be any separate party ballot in a general election. They have to ask you in a primary election, because you canât vote in both party primaries, but there is absolutely no reason for that question in a general election.
The GOP: Making A Mockery Of Democracy
I canât believe no one has gotten punched in the nose yet.
In some states⌠but not all . . .
We donât have the following problem in primaries in California.[quote=âSLBinVA, post:49, topic:4199â]

Printed on all California Primary and General Election ballots:
California Elections Code Section 13206.
âAll voters, regardless of the party preference they disclosed upon registration, or refusal to disclose a party preference, may vote for any candidate for a voter-nominated or nonpartisan office. The party preference, if any, designated by a candidate for a voter-nominated office is selected by the candidate and is shown for the information of the voters only. It does not imply that the candidate is nominated or endorsed by the party or that the party approves of the candidate. The party preference, if any, of a candidate for a nonpartisan office does not appear on the ballot.â

Theyâre called poll taxes. Let me guess. Not just black voters were quizzed. Thatâs the things about the violation of oneâs civil rights, itâs only a matter of time before everyoneâs rights are compromised. Not a nice feeling, is it?
You do know what the reaction would be to a group (more than 1) black people milling around a voting location in AR would be, right??
Most of the poll workers doing this are 1) likely well past retirement age, and 2) have been brainwashed by Fox to believe that they are helping to defeat the rampant voter fraud that Fox spews about. In a sense, they are victims as well â victims of lies, deceit, and a concerted from Fox and members of the Republican party to fix the elections. That doesnât excuse the poll workers, but they arenât generally the ones passing the laws and spewing the garbage that Fox gleefully laps up and passes along to easily manipulated people.
This is the same crap they tried to pull in FL and elsewhere.
Questioning the validity of voters that listed their names as Jane Ann Doe and signed them as Jane A. DoeâŚobviously a ballot that needs to be tossed, especially if the district leans Democratic.
If an address listed is correct but Maple Court is inappropriately abbreviated to mean âCircleâ, when everything else is fine, let alone apartment 1 is actually now 1A, does not mean the vote should be invalidated.
The Republicans will only start being bothered if their precious votes arenât counted.
ââŚI was quizzedâŚâ
And that is how conservatism turns into tyranny.
This is the republican version of sharia law
They should ask for the identification of the poll worker. How is anyone really supposed to believe that the poll workers are whom they say they are? Just because the poll worker says they are a poll worker isnât good enough. ID is essential. Proof is needed.
At the end of the envelope, there is quizzing.
