Discussion for article #238006
Remember when 5 robed lawyers completely shredded campaign finance laws, gutted voting rights legislation, and elected a President, all while conservatives cheered their heads off? I do.
All these clowns need to do is arrange for a different job for these people where they arenât giving out licenses.
This clerk is doing exactly the right thing. If, in conscience, one cannot carry out the duly enacted laws of oneâs community, it would be wrong to stop others from following the law. As Josh Marshall said yesterday, there is no constitutional right to be a county clerk.
I have no problem with anyone who wonât do their job resigning. Itâs those who insist on remaining in their post while not doing their job that are objectionable.
Do not let the door hit you in the rear on your way outâŚIdiot! Good riddance to trashy rubbish.
Bah-bye!
Oh no. I can understand why youâd want to resign rather than continue to be a part of a government where you have to have things shoved down your throats endure the tyranny of judges trampling all over the rights of the states this way and your sacred God-Given right to oppose equality using the exact same ideological and rhetorical framing your daddies and granddaddies did when they were imposing the unnatural blasphemous states-rates trampling of Loving v. Virginia ! But whatever would we do if you all resigned? However would we continue to run things. Yeah, heh, I admit that it would really show those liberals! Especially if all of you resigned and vowed never again to serve in such a tyranny! Maybe even renounce your citizenship so thereâs no going back. Oh man, thatâd really hurt 'em where they live! There could be like a mass day of resignation protests where every local, state and federal office holder or government employee who canât endure this intolerable ruling resigns! Itâd be like mass chaos! We couldnât possibly run the country without you! Oh no. Please oh please donât do it.
âArkansas Clerk Will Resign To Avoid Issuing Same-Sex Marriage Licensesâ
Perfect for everyone. If you canât set aside your personal prejudices to uphold the law, then you shouldnât be in public service.
Crowd funding push in 3âŚ2âŚ1âŚ
I have just been advised one Arkansas County Clerk will resign before issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
OK, that works.
Number of actual resignations Iâd expect to see: 0
When people claim they are not resigning for âXâ reason, it usually means that they are indeed resigning for that reason.
On the other hand, when they claim they are resigning âTo spend more time with my familyâ it usually means, âBefore my big screw-ups come to lightâ
A thousand times yes! We know they wonât, though. That would be too much like taking personal responsibility and standing up for their convictions while not breaking the law. You know, not acting like victims. A bridge too farâŚ
Iâll take her at her word that she doesnât hate gays. She just finds their sexuality in general and desire to marry in particular to be offensive to the Supreme Being. Hey, nothinâ personal.
Iâm expecting some resignations, but in the end, I expect that most clerks wonât. This happened in New York. A small number of clerks said ânoâ, tried to fight, and ultimately resigned, but there was no mass exodus.
Eggs Act Lee!
Let her march to the sound of her own drummerâŚright on out the door. I have a begrudging respect for her; rather than bitch and moan and stall, she hits the roadâŚas her bigoted little self should.
NowâŚIf she can just garner enough attention and perhaps get the attention of one of the ânews readersâ at FOX, there could be a GoFundMe pot of gold at the end of that gay rainbow that entered her former place of employment! (See what I did there!)
Good. She should resign. Sheâs clearly not fit for a job that serves the public.
Good for her staying true to herself, now she can go work at the Waffle House, and the county can get someone competent in the position.
