I can’t get over the short sightedness of these narrow minded morons. The GOPers step up and do shit without ever thinking about how it will play in the real world. No research, no thought to the consequences. Sheeesh!!

Is it really happening? Is the bond between business and the GOP finally starting to break? I realize Apple, Yelp, and Salesforce have more progressive CEOs, but I wonder if this is the issue on which business finally says, “Enough! The tax breaks and deregulation that only served to destroy the economy are no longer worth getting into bed with hatemongers.” There has to be a breaking point, an issue that puts businesses over the edge where they decide they’d rather a little regulation than to have to pull up stakes and move to a bright blue state in order to attract the best and brightest. At some point, red state freebies and tax breaks aren’t going to be worth it when the quality of life is too abysmal to attract the talent they want.

Actually, it is not about governing, but power and maintaining it: it’s a form of intellectual corruption. In another part of the world, just look what Netanyahu had to do to get re-elected…

I realize that, but I’m wondering if this is the issue that forces these companies to take a look at the Republican Party and ask themselves are these really the people they want to be in bed with. There are already so many other issues that are turning off corporate America (immigration being chief among them), and I’m wondering if we might be nearing a tipping point.
Also, it’s not just about whether the corporation supports gay rights, it’s about whether they can attract talent that wants to move to and work in these states where gays are permitted by law to be treated as second class citizens. Corporations don’t have feelings and they don’t care about gay rights, they care about attracting workers that make the corporation more profitable.

I agree with you. I think corporate America has finally had enough. They tried to send a subtle message by supporting gay rights. The goobers just didn’t get the hint. We can also look to the companies resigning from ALEC.
